I booked 3 nights for the two of us in early October in part based on the very positive reviews here. Not only were we disappointed, but disappointed enough that we did not to even stay there one night. Our small "lagoon and ocean view" room upstairs with a shed or some other structure obstructing the view was not what we expected. Doors which didn't close with ancient locks, a tired old room that had little to offer other than a little frigerator on some pedestal being the dominant feature of the room from every angle. We looked at several other rooms which were simply not much better. And that option would have meant changing rooms after the first night. I suppose the lack of decor, flimsy doors and limited views and rooms that were simply tired resulted in our leaving without even thinking of obtaining a partial refund. It is clearly not the type of place that would offer such. Food? Received an email prior to arrival asking if we would dine there. I responded that we would be interested if we could see a menu. Three days later a reply that indicated they were working on a menu. That along with their listed phone number which was NEVER answered should have alerted me to troubles ahead. Bottom line, there are other hotels that certainly offer clean, large rooms with beach access and views for similar prices. I suggest you consider those alternatives. One of them is named...
Read moreMilkwood Manor is set directly on the beach, we arrived prior to check-in and opted to have a light lunch in the attached restaurant. The dining patio overlooks the beach and a natural lagoon and the views are wonderful, our food was tasty, well presented and our waiter attentive. After lunch we were shown up to our room which was set at the front of Milkwood. The two large windows overlooked the beach and you could not ask for a better view. The room was large, very clean and was well set out. However we felt that the bathroom should have had frosted glass windows as it's large window had plain glass and overlooked the public car park. That together with the toilet being located immediately next to the window made us feel very exposed and needless to say the curtains were closed in the bathroom all the time. We stayed two nights at Milkwood and dined in the restaurant both nights. The menu is Thai themed and does not change daily but if you ask there are some specials. It is advisable to book if you intend dining in the restaurant as it is open to the public and gets very busy. We found that on our second night, a Saturday, the service was very slow and in fact at one stage thought we had...

Don’t complain here because the owner / manager won’t believe you!! Also don’t take your own wine for a corkage fee, not allowed!! If you are not German don’t expect the manager to great you or see how your meal is. He only interacts with German visitors who obviously frequent this establishment for deep fried dishes. We ordered a Gin cocktail which was Gordon’s Gin, fruit and sprite R99 ?? Singapore noodles - really delicious Lamb curry R229 complete shocking, tasted like the Spar food take out or a canteen offering. We told the waiter it was tasteless and he offered up his apologies and said that’s all he could do. On leaving we tried to tell the manager who by the way observed zero Covid protocols, no make, no sanitizer, no social distancing that the curry was way below average, his response was we sell hundreds so sorry you feel that way. No question of what was the issue with it? Can we improve? Just … something’s wrong with you the customer. Apart from a few German tourist the place was empty, not surprising. What a pity, such a beautiful setting, but ripping South Africans off doesn’t seem to be a good prospect...
