We stayed here on the Christmas night of 2017. This family run place is just amazing. Situated aside the Castlereagh reservoir, amidst of tea plantations, this guest house gives a magnificient view of the reservoir and its other side, all green!||||Rooms are basic with standard facilities. Hot water was available and there are no fans, its already chilling! Beds were neat. But there were few worm like creatures were on the wall corners of the bathroom, but of no threat at all.||||There are two rooms downstairs and two rooms upstairs. They have a space infront of the downstair rooms where you can have a night party or a campfire or a BBQ.||||They offer a superb, exquisitely delicious homemade Sri Lankan meals with less or no artificial ingredients. You can even witness the cooking. The smell of the spices were so tempting that makes you impatient to wait.||||The most lovely experience is to sit back, and enjoy the magnificient views. Since it was the Christmas night, there were crackers and fireworks from the other side of the reservoir, that was so amazing. In day light the place looked like a heaven on earth. Check out my pictures.||||They arrange small wooden boats, for boating in the reservoir. The boats are pretty small, can accommodate 3. They offer life jackets and charge 1000 for almost an hour of boating. It was a very refreshing experience to row the boat in a morning sun with all green surroundings. But always make sure of your saftey. ||||The owner of the place (Actually I even thanked him after reaching home, but forgotten his name) told that we can go for a small hike to a viewpoint of the whole area, or walk down further for a bath in a clear stream. We opted it out as we were staying as familes with senior citizens.||||Overall, well away from all the hustles, this place offers a perfect family getaway for a very decent price and superb meals and most importanly, magnificient view and relaxation, most luxaries...
Read moreThis place was great. My friend and I stayed for 2 nights - the first we climbed Adam's Peak and the second was for recuperating. ||The place is basic but lovely, the family were so accommodating and gave us dinner and breakfast each day - I recommend you stay here for the food alone!||They have their own package for getting you to Adam's Peak - for LKR7500 they will drive you there, the driver will wait overnight and drive you back in the morning (around an hour's drive) which was just ideal for us. They also arranged to drive us to our next hotel which was reasonable and a beautiful drive. ||The location of this place is excellent - right on the reservoir in the midst of tea plantations, great for disconnecting from the world (with pretty god wifi!) and...
Read moreI had the most amazing, relaxing, peaceful day at this guest house. They were still some construction works but we were so kindly welcomed from the very beginning that it did not matter. The accommodation was clean and with a garden with the most spectacular view on the lake. My friend and I just sat at the table and stayed there for the whole afternoon. The family prepared a tasty lunch and dinner, all vegetarian, specially for us. It felt like home so much that we called the man of the house SRI LANKAN DADDY :) So Daddy helped us to go down to the lake as we wanted to swim, and the next day he arranged for a small boat to take us around the lake... UNFORGETTABLE. really what we needed after Adam's peak :) so ... Daddy... if you read this.... THANK...
