Castlereagh Summer House — Hotel in Sri Lanka

We were returning guests for the 5th time in a row. Due to the best services offered by Mr. Sathish & Mr. Muraliah on previous occasions... & the old staff , cook, gardeners who worked very hard from Olden days. . this time - when we made the booking - none of them were there. We we're told that our room was RS 7700 & then to see we were charged RS 8,800. SO do be careful!! There were some incorrect billings for quantities as well but we rechecked & got it rectified. There was def. a drop in the standards way below a 3-star, mainly due to the attitude of the waiter & assistant - Raj. Other issues we faced: The orders were incorrectly taken by Raj in more than three times in a row. who always brought the wrong items w wrong quantities!!! Later the very kind GM - Mr Muralia had to come personally to get the order from us !!! We felt uncomfortable w this but had no other choice.... Mosquito issues- we got allergic to the mosquitoes. we informed RAJ but he just had a negative attitude. Never made an attempt to resolve the issue. "The breakfast buffet" was a joke - dishes empty& refills were not done promptly by RAJ. When asked if it will be refilled - he just said it s all over! After complaining to the GM there was a difference of attitude.

ROOM CLEANING: should be done on a daily basis if charging a day rate. Ours were not cleaned on a daily basis.

ROOM RATES: should be given a discount for those staying more than two days- since there were no changes of linen, towels cleaning etc. The management needs to seriously think about replacing RAJ & the current marketing manager- who was not very customer- friendly or not proactive as Mr.Murali or Mr. Satheesh. There were some incorrect billings as well by Mr. Krishan. So pls double check what you order as they bill only later.....SO We were disappointed with the higher rate billing & the poor service overall.....

The cooks, the garden, the view are still great! The service staff must be those who support the GM- Mr. Muraliah. We were glad that he had rejoined last week- if not it would have been a disastrous experience for us as loyal guests who have returned...

Initially, from the outside, it appeared to be a small and potentially dull place. I found myself complaining about not planning earlier.

However, the moment I stepped inside the gate and discovered what it had to offer, I was left speechless. It was like unveiling a hidden treasure of beauty. 🤯

The resort's breathtaking views, the charming architecture of the rooms, and the scenic paths leading to the rooms took me by surprise. While there were numerous stairs to climb and winding paths to walk, 🪜I must say that with each step, it felt like a new and breathtaking point of view was revealed. 🏞️

The cool and tranquil weather, along with the resort's isolation from the city, added to the overall sense of peace and relaxation. This place is perfect for a break from the hustle and bustle. I absolutely loved every aspect of this vacation. 💆‍♂️
