I have very mixed impressions after this hotel.
I want to start with the fact that I took a regular room in a duplex. Be sure that when other people live next door to you in a duplex, they will hear everything you do in the bathroom. Accordingly, you will hear everything. It’s not very comfortable and doesn’t create your own personal space.
Another minus, the hotel has a disgusting Wi-Fi. If you go there to rest and work - this is not your option at all. Wi-Fi is provided on certain vouchers. It’s not very convenient, as I had to go to the reception desk several times a day to get vouchers.
The rooms look tired, they obviously need to be refreshed.
There are no bartenders in the hotel, so I strongly do not recommend ordering drinks from the bar menu, as you will be brought a drink made jointly by the hands of the hostess and the waiter. I ordered a cappuccino, and they brought me coffee with milk.
There is only one socket for the room! So all the equipment that you need to charge, you will have to charge in turn.
In general, there are a lot of technical difficulties. One day there is no hot water, one day it suddenly appears. It’s very strange.
Of the pluses, it’s definitely the hotel staff. They were always friendly to me and always went to meet me. It was very awkward for me to approach the hostesses every day and dump my problems with the technical part on them. A huge thank you to the girl in glasses who works at the reception, she suddenly solved all my problems and eventually offered to upgrade the room.
Also, many thanks to the waiter Dilan, he is an incredibly kind, pleasant and polite man. He always had a smile on his face and it definitely cheered me up. I asked his name myself to mention him in this review, as he impressed me a lot with his work. Thanks very much to him!
In general, the territory of the hotel is gorgeous, located in the tropics, a peacock flew to my balcony, I also saw mongoose ran past me.
Breakfasts are delicious. They offer different positions to choose from.
I highly recommend the hotel manager to pay attention to the huge number of shortcomings in the rooms, as I have never contacted hostesses so much in my life about the number of problems in my room. The hotel doesn’t...
Read moreA very nice and highly recommended hotel - but your experience will depend a lot on the type of room you choose when booking (see the PRO TIP at the end).
The entire hotel complex is beautiful and well-maintained. The room where we spent most of our stay was great: spacious, with a large bathroom and a terrace. The dining area where breakfast is served opens onto a well-kept garden. There’s also a very nice large pool where we spent a lot of time, including evenings.
Breakfast was very good - several options to choose from (some shown in my photos), plus coffee, fresh juice, toast with toppings, and always a small dessert.
One of the biggest advantages of this hotel is its location. As the name suggests, it is surrounded by nature - which is quite common in this country, but here it feels even more immersive. Trees and greenery everywhere. Additionally, you can spot plenty of animals around, such as rabbits (sometimes hopping between the tables during breakfast), monitor lizards, different birds, and huge bats flying over the hotel in the evenings. Just awesome!
Of course, there’s a trade-off: you need to take a tuk-tuk to get to the town, which for some might be a downside. But for us, the peaceful nature surrounding the hotel easily outweighs that small inconvenience.
PRO TIP: When booking online, definitely avoid the cheapest rooms with an external bathroom. They are located in a low building next to the reception - very dark, much smaller, and the outdoor bathroom really makes no sense. It’s absolutely worth paying a bit extra to get a room in one of the hill cottages with an internal bathroom and a beautiful garden view. Fortunately, we managed to upgrade on-site after realizing the mistake we made with our...
Read moreLet me start with the positives - the hotel is beautiful, really well decorated and the pool is fantastic. The restaurant manager was helpful and made me a birthday brownie. However, that is all that resembles a 4 star hotel.
We had numerous issues, initially our basin water didn’t work, then there was no hot water in the shower, then our AC leaked over the bed and throughout our stay there were loads of ants in the bathroom. There are flies all around the hotel. The prices for water (double the maximum retail price) and food are just ludicrous, enjoy food from the best rated restaurants in the area for a fraction of the prices. The mopeds are 2,500 a day, just message these guys +94 74 039 1406 and they will do it for 1,500pd. The Wi-Fi is terrible and for some non sensical reason you have to get a code that expires after 4000mb and 4 days even though there aren’t any other hotels/restaurants neighbouring.
However I think worse of all is the attitude of some of the staff, we have been travelling in Sri Lanka for a month and have got used to their cheery smile and amazing hospitality. It seems like at this hotel you can’t force a smile. The lady in charge on the front desk didn’t apologise once for any of the issues we had, didn’t see to care at all about our bad experience, didn’t greet anyone with a ‘hello’ ‘have a nice day’ or any basic manners/niceties/customer service as you would expect.
Others note to managements - do cut back the tree by the pool otherwise people can’t pass by. The deluxe double bathrooms aren’t good enough, a mouldy shower curtain isn’t up to standard for a 4 star hotel. Don’t push guests to pay for their room in...
