Green Land Guest House — Hotel in Sri Lanka

They didn’t explain us that we could not go outside by main street, and we had trouble with the police because of this!! We arrived last night and we asked the owner where we could go to dinner and explained us about the main street and told us to try to dinner and for lunch next day, so next day we went to have breakfast to main street and a security man told us to pay a ticket to be in the main street! We didn’t understand nothing so we told him our hotel was in that street and he didnt care. After that he called the police and they explained us that main street we should pay or they were asking us our passports!! so we told them noone on the hotel had explained us nothing!! After that the owner of the hotel told us in a very bad way we had to pay the tiket when the police was asking them to pay it because they didn’t informed us! After all we understood that mainstreet was closed for the show of the elefants and we undestood we had to pay, but before all this truble noone explained us nothing!! So very bad forms from the owner and also from the police!! Never come again!! Very bad experience...

We had a awfull time here, the room looked like a Sauna inside.. The manager is rude, unhelpfull, and to top it off trys to overcharge you constantly, tryed charging me 700rs for a pot of tea when on the menu it is 200, among other times! When questioned about this he said i dont care i make the price up, so can only imagine hes pocketing the rest of the money. The worst hotel i have ever stayed in and we have travelled a lot.||Dont give this place ur money there are much better places local to give ur money to, if you stay here be prepared to be insulted and probably overcharged. The restaurant was up to 7x more expensive compared to other local places which I thought was unnecessary. (all other staff were friendly which made it a shame) to be honest dont bother coming to pinnawala its been the most horrendous place ive been to because of the treatment of the elephants here, I would highly recommend going to any of the national parks instead where the elephants are free...

The room was decent. Sheets and towels seemed washed. There were stains but ok for us. A/c worked just enough but not cool enough for a comfortable sleep. Hot water did not last long enough for 3 guests. I could not wash my hair as the water pressure was too low. Hotel attendant was not present during critical times when water ran out or we needed umbrellas due to rain. He was taking a nap and would not answer his cell phone. Further I booked through agoda and knowing that my stay was unpleasant the hotel cancelled my booking so that I could not leave a review. I think they do this as a practice to avoid many more documented bad reviews. My recommendation is to not spend any nights in penniwala as there is nothing to do and its a depressing place with no good food options. Very...
