Worst Experience Ever at Mississippi Ella – Do Not Recommend!
We checked in on December 21, 2024, at around 4:00 PM. The rooms were ready when we arrived, and we had booked two rooms for seven people – one family room and one triple room. Both rooms were okay, though not as expected.
Dinner Experience: In the evening, we were ready for dinner and wanted to have a drink, but the manager informed us that we couldn’t have our drinks or dinner in the dining area because there were other guests. However, there were no guests in the dining area at that time. We were asked to have our dinner in our rooms instead. We requested some plates, glasses, forks, and spoons, but the utensils provided were rusty and unusable. We had to wash them ourselves before using them, and they were very unpleasant and unhygienic.
Issues with the Room: Later, when we were ready to go to sleep, we discovered there were no blankets on the bed in Room Lilly. We had to request blankets from the manager, who asked, "Do you want them?" in a very dismissive manner. It was honestly quite shocking.
Breakfast Experience: On December 22, 2024, we requested Sri Lankan breakfast, and the food was fine – we were served dal, white rice, coconut sambol, fried eggs, and fruit juice. However, the next day, December 23, 2024, when we requested Sri Lankan breakfast again, it was supposed to be ready by 9:00 AM, but it wasn’t ready until 9:30 AM. Even then, not all the food was ready when we started eating. When we requested more curry, the manager rudely told us, "The curries are over." This was very disrespectful.
Check-Out Experience: Our check-out time was supposed to be 11:00 AM, but the hotel requested that we check out earlier, at 10:30 AM, as they needed to clean the room for incoming guests. This was inconvenient and unnecessary, as we had already confirmed our check-out time.
Overall Experience: In addition to all the issues mentioned above, the hotel is still under construction, and the view from the rooms is blocked by jack trees and bamboo. This was not mentioned when we made the booking, and it significantly impacted the overall experience.
Conclusion: This was the worst experience I’ve ever had at a hotel. The service was unprofessional, the facilities were subpar, and the overall experience was very disappointing. I would highly not recommend this place to anyone. There are many other better options...
Read moreBig room, big bathroom and big bed. The room floor was dirty and cobwebs at every corner in the ceiling and lamps. Location is somewhat alright, however you will be disturbed by the noisy road. Insects are an issue at night although all the doors are closed (they come in between door and floor). The caretakers are nice people. The food there is terrible.
I had an issue there. Ordered dinner, to be served hot and sent to my room at 8.30pm, however received at 8.40pm. And requested the room boy to come back to collect the dishes in 20mins. Once I’m done, no one came to collect the dishes, thus I decided to take them down (around 9.40pm) myself as I didn’t want foul smell in my room, as i was about to sleep. To my surprise, all the doors was closed and lights switched off, I had to use my phone light to get down as it was pitch dark. I had to leave the dishes at a table.
The next day, I had a breakfast there and I was about to check out, one of the caretaker told that one of the dishes was broken last night because some dogs came after the left over food. Thus, she wanted me to pay for it.
I felt it was completely unfair.
She told me, guests are not allowed to eat in their rooms. (THEN WHY WAS MY DINNER SENT TO MY ROOM? AND WHY DIDN’T YOU TELL ABOUT THE RESTRICTION?) She told me that I should have keep the dished in my room for them to collect it in the morning. (NEVER HAVE I EVER CAME ACROSS SUCH THING. IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE PROPERTY MANAGEMENT TO MAKE SURE DISHES ARE TAKEN BACK FROM GUESTS ONCE THEY ARE DONE. NO ONE WOULD WANT TO SLEEP WITH THE SMEEL OF SPOILING FOOD).
The argument was going on and on until my...
Read moreWe loved the place, its cleanliness, the staff, the food, the surroundings, because it was well maintained. The luxury room provided great bedding, electric kettles, coffee, snacks and fruits. At the check out we even got a souvenir post card from the hotel. But the most greatest factor was, the rooms got killer views of the mountains, and “Ella Rock”. All rooms have the “Mountain View”. We know this because we got to pick our own room on a slow day. If you inform EARLY, they provide a great American breakfast made by the kind staff. So you can try a stay here and see how wonderful and smart the staff and owners are. I highly recommend this place to anyone since they help us with anything they can. Speaking with personal experiences and we were in safe hands all 3 days we were there. They accepted our laundry with a fee. We understood a lot of young people (like us) stay at this hotel. It was entertaining in the night with guitar music. We checked out a bit late, but the hosts were kind to accommodate that. We wish them all the best!! Will definitely come...
