Hunters Club Gregory Lake — Hotel in Sri Lanka

This hotel was the low point on our trip to Sri Lanka. We were the only guests in the hotel.The first health hazard are the steps to the entrance, one of them has a huge whole in them and if you are not paying attention and step on it it is bound to brake. The building is in dilapidated condition. It is run by two disinterested guys who are gone the whole day except at check in, breakfast and departure. The whole building is damp and breathing during the night felt heavy and very unhealthy. The rooms smell of mould due to the moist walls and decades old carpet which has probably been soaked several times. The beds have linen on the mattress and pillows, but there is no linen in between the blankets. The blankets smelled dusty with dirt patches on them. They swore however that they wash it after each guest. I asked for extra linen for in between the blankets but they couldnt provide that.They didn't have sufficient towels. Furniture looked like it was bought in a yard sale 20 years ago. WiFi was weak and intermittent. TV'S were present in all rooms. Heating is essential but it only turns on when you leave the key in the slot. In one of the rooms the warm water in the shower didn't work properly. Breakfast consisted of toast, marmalade and omelets (which were good). From the balcony of one of the rooms there was a nice view to the lake but no chairs or...

This hotel is awful! Our agency booked us for two nights believing that it was a nice hotel but we were all surprised. When er arrived nobody were in the reception. Our driver called three different numbers to get in touch with the owners and finally two young guys showed up and quickly prepared a room for us. |The room was very dirty, no door between the room and the toilet, no hot water and in the evening locals staying at the hotel were crawling up in our balcony! Despite having ordered and confirmed breakfast with the young guys there was no breakfast (maybe it was good lucky because the dining room was really dirty). The hotel was totally empty the morning we left, the doors to the rooms were empty and the rooms looked like they had been left in a hurry. Nobody was in The reception to check us out and the door to the hotel was actually also closed so er had to crawl out through a window with our lugage to get out!!! Just horrible, right throughout!! This place is run by a skeleton crew - the reception is deserted 99% of the time. The place looks new but run down because of poor maintenance (water damage, mold, dusty etc).The room that we stayed in... let me say that the staff did a poor job in cleaning up, when there were cob webs on my night stand!! The bedding and the blankets had a few patches here and there. Food was below decent - the plates, cups & sauces along with the butter dish needs to get a good scrubbing in some hot water (there were layers of some sorta crust)!! What irritated my husband and I the most was the fact that they never ever served the food on time so we'd have to send the food back to get it reheated. On our last day we asked for our breakfast at 9:30am.. when we were at the dinning room.. we could see the staff playing cricket on the road!! That alone shows how they keep their customers happy!!
