Terrible place, terrible customer service, and an arrogant owner.
I made a reservation at this so-called “resort” through Booking.com, but from the moment we arrived, it was a disaster. We got to the property an hour before the check-in time, only to find the entrance gate shut—during broad daylight. That was the first sign that we were not welcome. After waiting about five minutes, we were greeted by a male employee who was both untrained and unprofessional. He didn’t even have the decency to let us inside first. Instead, he spoke to us through the gate and immediately demanded full payment upfront, which left us baffled. We’ve used Booking.com many times before and never experienced such treatment. Despite the rude welcome, we decided to go ahead with the payment to avoid the hassle of rebooking. However, before paying, we asked to see the family room we had reserved. The staff gave us disapproving looks and treated us with clear judgment. Their attitude from that point on was nothing short of disrespectful. To make matters worse, they attempted to check us into a smaller room than what we had booked! I showed them my booking confirmation, clearly indicating a family room. The staff were unable to handle our query and ended up calling the owner, who was incredibly rude and unhelpful. We overheard him instructing the staff not to show us any room rates in case we wanted to upgrade. This unpleasant experience ruined the start of our 3-day pilgrimage. For a resort located in a religious area, the untrained, discourteous staff made it a disheartening experience. No guest with a valid reservation should be treated this way. This establishment needs serious customer service training for both the staff and the owner. If they cannot keep up with modern technology and basic hospitality, they have no business being listed on Booking.com. Don't let them ruin your trip like they...
Read moreWe loved this hotel, it is beautiful oasis of calm in a busy city. Perfect to relax in the pool after a hot day’s site seeing. Our room was very clean and comfortable and I slept really well here. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and the owner was particularly helpful.||I have read some of the previous reviews and I am quite surprised, especially as I preferred Kingcity to the more expensive hotels we have stayed in.||To address some of the criticisms, here are the facts:|1. Breakfast and dinner are available on site but you have to preorder the day before.|2. There is a kettle in the room but no tea or coffee so bring your own and ask for a cup.|3. Drinks aren’t available but you do have a fridge in your room so go to a supermarket and buy what you want.|4. If you want beer or other alcohol you can go to a wine shop and buy some. Pick up a tuktuk outside the gate, we were charged 200 LKR to go there and back.||We did our own breakfast every morning, we bought fresh fruit and curd and kept it in the fridge. The staff were more than happy for us to eat it in the restaurant and provided plates, bowls and cutlery for us to do so. Coffee was also available.||So maybe this hotel doesn’t have the facilities of more expensive ones but it does provide enough for you to enjoy your stay. Honestly, this is my favourite hotel so far on our trip around Sri Lanka. The rates are really reasonable and because you can cater for yourself quite easily it makes it very affordable.||The jewel in the crown of this lovely hotel is the pool, it’s very clean and great for relaxing and...
Read moreI stayed in this resort with my wife for 1 night while travelling around Sri Lanka and I would not recommend this to anyone. ||||When checking in to hotel I saw the hotel staff folding bed sheets where the owners dog was jumping next to. So my assumption is that those bedsheets are not as clean as they seem. At the time of the checkin my mom was with me where I was going to drop her at her relatives place. When the hotel manager saw she was with us he mentioned that I cannot have any guest in my room and I need quickly move her out of the room even after I mentioned that she is not staying with us. ||||Bedside table lamps are just for decorating purpose only as those plugs are broken (check the photos). Bathroom had a large opening on the roof where anyone from the roof top can peep into when you take a shower. So be careful of this. All the shampoo conditioner and body lotions are water mixed (check the photos for evidence)||||Breakfast is a set menu and the hotel staff did not offer any choice when checking in. When I asked for the breakfast to be served at 8.30am they said they cannot do that as that time slot is booked for someone else which I don't understand when they have enough tables and chairs in their restaurant. Restaurant seating area is full of dust and the hotel claims that they bring the breakfast from elsewhere. So question their food preparations.||||Hotel security was not there when I woke so I had to open the gate by myself to get out. There is no actual carpark for this resort.||||Hope this helps anyone trying...
