Kunam Beach Guest House — Hotel in Sri Lanka

If you just want a cheap place to sleep this is the place but we did not like our bedroom. It was the budget option at the back of the house and it did not look welcoming at all. We have stayed in other budget rooms and this was definitely the worst in Sri Lanka. The rooms upstairs may be nicer. It was also the end of season so the place was not busy and all the lights in the hallway were not on, which made it tricky to get to our room. The owner was not there when we arrived and his son could speak limited English so communication was an issue. We tried renting the two bicycles they have there but had to return after 5 minutes as one of the pedals came off. The rooms are dirty and parts like the power outlet are broken. The water of the shower is so hot that you can boil pasta in it and the fan is so loud that you are not able to sleep. The beds are so hard that not even a drunken pig would sleep in it. In the night you can hear different things for example the vomiting neighbour, barking dogs or the snoring other neighbour. And you can’t close the Windows. I recently stayed at Kunam Beach Guest House and unfortunately, my experience was far from pleasant. The owner’s behavior was extremely off-putting—they seemed more focused on making money than ensuring guests had a comfortable stay. Their attitude was unwelcoming and gave the impression that customer satisfaction was not a priority.

While the location might have its charm, the overall experience was ruined by the owner’s lack of hospitality. I would not recommend this place to anyone looking for a relaxing and enjoyable stay.
