Everything went wrong in this place.||||Maybe because we got used to the high standards of Sri Lanka's guesthouses, but the moment we arrived there was no one to welcome us. The owner just told us which room was ours without even actually speaking to us.||||We then went to the beach and when we came back, we realised we had locked the door from inside. It was our fault however it didn't help to improve the way we were feeling.||||They asked us if we wanted to have dinner over there, we said yes and we got a very very poor barbecue. Seriously, do not take it because you will be disappointed. I was still hungry after my 3 small sausages and my friends were not satisfied with their small pieces of chicken.||||However, the worst happened at night when we were about to sleep and started noticing cockroaches coming from everywhere. They were especially big sized and no need to say that we spent our night wide awake killing these bugs. I counted 8.||||Because of that, we decided to book another place to stay the next morning. We were supposed to stay in Olive Green Resort for two nights but in these circumstances was impossible. ||||The worst for me was the reaction of the owner when I told him I was leaving. I showed him the dead insects and his only answer was "OK". That is it, a simple ok. I know these insects can appear even in the cleanest of the places. Though it is not "ok" to hear just "ok". No need to say we had to pay for the two nights, plus the overpriced dinner and some extra charges that I am still struggling to understand why they were there.||||Anyway, very disappointed and if you are reading this, think twice before booking your stay in Olive...
Read moreWe booked two nights via booking.com and then our plans changed. Upon arrival we explained this to the owner and asked if he wanted us to cancel the second night online. He said no that it was no problem. Later that evening he asked me to pay for half the cost of the night we had cancelled. Because we had free cancellation on booking.com we were not willing to do this. The following morning he asked us to cancel online (same day cancellation is not free and costs the full amount) so obviously we were unwilling to do so. This may have been a crossed communication sort of situation but left a bad taste in the mouth. ||We had the fish for dinner at the guesthouse which cost a whopping 1800 per person which is a relatively huge amount. We each for a medium fish a few bits of cucumber / tomatoes and peppers. Also we were told we would be eating at 8.00pm and the food came at 9.00pm - we were starving!!!! As an afterthought at about 8.40 the three of us where given a chopped up apple to share for the interim. ||The photos on TripAdvisor and booking.com make the rooms look a lot more pleasant then they are. We were also under the impression that our room had a bath room. When we got there we found it was a shared one (just FYR). ||WiFi worked when we arrived then seemed to stop for some reason. ||On the plus side Andrew who works there is awesome really friendly and nice, wr really helpful and lovely. We were able to do our laundry for 500 rupees and it has off...
