Pidurangala Hostel — Hotel in Sri Lanka

This place is very nice. Close to the attractions. I am a female solo traveler and felt safe and welcomed here. The host is awesome. He gave me free rides to close by sites for the sunset and sunrise Lion rock viewing, gave me bike and recommended a close by lake ( 30 minutes ride each way) and was very responsive and accommodating. He has an understanding and respect of budget traveler and everything he recommended was price wise was reasonable and I didn't feel he was pressuring me for anything at all. Stayed here for a night in the dorm room. The dorm and the attached bathroom were both simple and clean. It's also one of the closest accommodations to Pidurangala (10-15 min walk), and Sigiriya is around 10-15 min on a bicycle, shorter if you have tuktuks or scooters.

I cannot emphasize enough the warmth of the hosts, who were extremely welcoming and happy to help in any way possible. I drank several cups of tea, had a delicious egg kotthu for dinner and an excellent breakfast the next morning.

If you are planning to do frequent visits to Pidurangala then this hostel is at a perfect location. You get options for hostels, Pvt rooms and tree house. Sigiriya is visible from the Tree house. Owners are very nice and they keep good care of the guests. He had given me his bicycle for a morning tour to the nearby lake and also helped me plan my further journey. I had gotten late while coming back from the rock, the family later cooked dinner specially for me.
