Couldn`t have asked for a better first few days in Sri Lanka. Dambulla Shan Inn is owned by a sweet loving family. Chathuri is so kind and so helpful. Months prior to landing in Sri Lanka, I was emailing her with all sorts of questions and she was very quick to reply each time. She helped us with setting up airport transfer to her place for a good price. She helped us with hiring a tuk tuk for the day, from a tuk tuk driver that she trusts. We ate breakfast and dinner there and both were very delicious. Both her and her husband are very kind, funny, and welcoming people.||On our last day we wanted to take an AC bus to Kandy. Chathuri called the bus driver and the bus driver called her when he was close by. Then she waited with us until the bus came. And the bus stopped right in front of the Inn. I am very thankful for her generosity. She made our stay very pleasant and easy.||I would highly recommend Shann Inn Dambulla. ||||The location is away from crowded areas but it is still on a main road with restaurants in walking distance.||The room and bathroom was very clean and the bed was...

Read moreWe spent 2 weeks in Sri Lanka as part of our backpacking honeymoon, which included basic accommodation like this and much more luxury, but Dambulla Shann Inn was one of our favourite stays. What makes it special is feeling so welcomed by the family. Chathuri is full of life and very funny, but also so helpful and a very good cook. The area was pretty quiet (there was a hotel a minute walk away with a poolside bar), so we chose to eat dinner all three nights, which was the best decision. We even celebrated her gorgeous daughter's 4th birthday with cake! The garden is very nice but there was not much comfortable space to sit, so I would book the family rooms, as these had patio areas with nicer chairs. The accommodation is basic and you can hear the talking and laughter of the family through the walls in the evening. But it's a homestay, this is what is expected.
