I have stayed at the 4P Suk 15 at least 30 times over the years. So, yeah... it's well past time that I review one of my favourite hotels in the world.
The amazing thing about this hotel is that there are staff, from front desk to the porters, who have been there since the beginning. I know a couple staff who had promotion opportunities to go elsewhere but stayed because they like working there, like their co-workers, and are treated well by management. That's probably a better endorsement than I could ever make. Last year I returned to the 4P for the first time in over 3 years, 4 members of the staff greeted me, by name, when they saw me before I even got to the front desk! They were genuinely surprised and happy to see me, and all knew about how long it had been since I'd been there. I don't think it's possible to feel more welcome at a hotel than I did at that moment.
I understand the hotel is up for sale, I do hope the future owners keep the same culture- the staff make this hotel special.
There are several hotels in BKK that are newer than the 4P which show a lot of wear and age. In contrast, the 4P is still in great shape and always clean, even to my rather picky standards.
The staff genuinely want every guest to be happy and have a great experience. Staying as many times as I have, I have seen the staff keep smiling and doing everything they can to help even the most difficult guests. This is also one of the few hotels where I have never had housekeeping knock on the door with a DND sign on it- even at 3pm on checkout day. Clearly they have a good system for informing housekeeping of which guests have late checkout.
The location could not be more perfect. Both the BTS and MRT are a short walk, or they'll take you in the hotel tuk tuk. The breakfast is always good and in a nice bright open space.
BKK is a city with a lot of good hotels at reasonable prices. This hotel was a wonderful bargain on points as a Cat 2, but now as a Cat 3, it's usually a better value as a paid stay unless you have a ton of points. For its price point, I find it a much better hotel than, for instance, the comparable Doubletree (I also have Hilton's top tier Diamond status, so it's an apples to apples comparison). As for other SPG's, I find it far superior to Aloft Suk 11, and even the Westin- except for the gym. LM BKK is a fantastic hotel and obviously higher end, but in a much less convenient location for most things.
Relative to comparable hotels, 4P Suk is value for money and highly unlikely to disappoint even picky travelers (of which I am one, in some regards). I highly recommend...
Read moreIt was a short stay but I did really like this hotel in total. Its located in a perfect area with walking distance to everything, just next to Sofitel. Next to the building is an onsen facility. I can't say anything about parking in that central area. The staff was super friendly. Tiny bit too expensive for the value. We spent 10.000 baht for 2 days without breakfast. It's acceptable but not great. The TVS are not smart. I asked the reception how I can log myself into my accounts, they said the TVs don't support that function. Also not possible to watch anything via their TV browser as it's outdated. So in 2024 there's no use for a TV like that. The bathroom shower did see better days for sure, which was a bit surprising to see outworn silicone and tiles like that. Not appealing. The shower head was not adjustable. It's a shower head screwed high in the wall like in old times. So for ladies who want a quick shower without wet hair or only for shaving... very unpractical and old school. Luckily I had a bathtub too... let's go there then. The shampoo and gel are screwed into the wall in the shower. If you want to use the nice bathtub, well.... you have to look for another solution and buy stuff first. I tried for half n hour to get the flasks out of the shower. Naked ready to shower. Luckily I found a small bottle in my bag. Maybe somebody can assist you on the first day and drag the liquids through the room if you're not prepared and just need a quick shower ))) with high occupation the pool area can become uncozy as it's a bit small. But the sitting area for eating / drinks is huge compared to the pool area and on the weekend you might have good music and a DJ, which was very pleasant on the other hand. I was lucky to go early in the day always, so I quite enjoyed that and had it quiet at the pool. The water is very well circulated and refreshingly cold as they have like a rainfall system on the pool. That is really awesome. The breakfast is gigantic and the main reason why I'll go again asap and anytime again. There was high variety of pastry, eggs, cooked food. Even ice cream, which made my partner fall in love with the breakfast )) I don't remember the price which is a good sign. I would love to give 4,5 stars for the stay in total if I could. The service and food is giving a lot of points to be honest. I love the...
Read moreI have stayed in room 608, first time guest in this hotel.
First impression: I am extremely surprised to see that this hotel in no way is honouring SPG membership, even platinum membership not. There is nowhere in this hotel something specifically for SPG members! You will nowhere find even the logo or name of SPG, not even at the front desk, no different check in counter, not even an advertising flyer!
Next surprise: The hotel does not honour the upgrading rules, as platinum member I was not upgraded to one of the many different suite types! Explicitly reminding and asking for it did not help, the hotel stated there were no room free but online I could find and could have booked suite rooms! The front desk staff had no explanation.
Also surprising, the customer service manager did not come across to at least introduce himself and show some care for platinum members.
Hotel has no executive floor.
On the room, no welcoming fruits, not even an apple or an orange. Not an SPG room.
The room (608) quite small, the bathroom substandard. The bathroom only basically equipped, not even toothbrush or toothpaste, no shaver too! An SPG category 3 hotel? Come on!! Clearly not even a category 2.
At least a satellite TV with CNN, Nat Geo, Al Jazeera, etc.
The bed large in size and comfortable.
Room overall condition is good, furniture and design rather poor than nice or special but in good condition at least.
Remarkable: mini bar with lots small food, chips, sweets, everything for sale at heavy prices, it seems the hotel puts efforts into selling add-ons instead of delivering the purchased.
All in all this Bangkok hotel is not worth the money, it certainly is not on international level and definitely substandard in many regards. Not SPG category 3, as sold.
For me not a pleasant stay, I did not feel appreciated at all.
Just no attention to the guest, no welcoming attitude, but this might be more a deeper issue in Thailand, reflecting the Thai attitude towards foreigners probably, hotel probably under...
