1* is not low enough! I travelled 150 miles to the WorstHouse in a sleep-deprived state, only to find nobody there. I waited an hour. I said I’d hopefully arrive around 5:30ish, but I didn’t realise access was by appointment only. I was then reprimanded for arriving early by the lady of the house. She told me a story of further guests turning up a day early. But it didn’t really ring true because they both went off to reallocate said people together, when one could’ve easily stayed back & held the fort. Non sense!||I was down there for a 50th birthday party which started at 6pm. I was told they’d drive me to the venue & true to their word, they did. Unfortunately. |Upon arrival, getting out of the car, I said don’t worry about breakfast, please just let me sleep in. Whereupon Mr. Grumpy (His name is chalked on a small blackboard outside their abode!) curtly informed me checkout is at 10am & I said, “unbelievable.” |He shouted at me, in front of all the guests on the lawn, “DONT BE SO BLOODY RUDE!”|‘We need to clean the room before other guests arrive.”|Upon returning with another guest from the party I found a note, pictured. In the morning I was awoken by the clamour of breakfast & decided to eat some. I expected the, can’t do a cooked breakfast, which is fair enough. I helped myself to some fruit & yogurt & was offered toast, in a basket, sans plate or knife. I didn’t want to impose!|The location & views over the South Downs are stunning. The birdsong: a sonnet to nature. |The shower was fawlty (sic) & drenched me & half the bathroom in cold water - both overhead & the horizontal one worked in tandem - completely thoughtless: why not point the handheld away from the door?! Some of the bedroom is good, but for £175 a night, payable in full in advance, the accommodation is terrible value, but if you don’t expect anything other than a comfortable bed,...
Read moreOn arrival it was like something out of a dreamy romance film, the entire property is very well kept, great condition and beautiful! Very fortunate in location to be just down the hill from the Firle Beacon which we enjoyed walking up to catch the sunset and take in the views!
Had the most incredible stay at the Farmhouse (Firle Room), our hosts had thought of everything, even hand sanitiser available.
The room was large, clean and the bed was so comfortable with extra pillows and blankets available too. plenty of space to put our things. Firle room especially has wonderful views over their garden and also the surrounding hills!
We were welcomed in very warmly and it felt like a home away from home 🥰 you couldn’t meet nicer people!
The breakfast tasted amazing, our hosts were even thoughtful enough to leave out cards so we could let them know how much or little we wanted/mushrooms/tomatoes added etc the night before - all locally sourced ingredients and great quality!
Genuinely one of the best stays we’ve ever had, and we look forward...
Read moreThe first thing that strikes you is the stunning location, it’s breathtaking. Firle Beacon rises menacingly in front of you and the entire landscape demands you to explore.||The Farmhouse is beautiful too. John and Eileen are wonderful hosts. Friendly, helpful and so very easy to have a chat with. They cook a lovely breakfast to set you up for the day ahead too!||We stayed in the Firle Room which has a lovely dual aspect one of which is a fantastic view of Firle Beacon and we were rewarded with beautiful sunsets and even a super moon!||There are some great walks from the doorstep.||The Old Coach Rd runs either side of the Farmhouse taking you to Firle one way and the lovely villages of Alciston and Berwick the other. This road will also allow you a walking route to Alfriston too.||All in all we loved it and will definitely be going...
