I am very familiar with Choice Hotels and particularly the Sleep Inn. I am also familiar with the hotels in the vicinity of the Albuquerque Airport area. This review will address Sleep Inn in general and in this area. First, it is my experience the hotels and motels in this area are always run-down looking. I don't know why but it has been that way for the 20+ years I have been coming through, regardless of how expensive or inexpensive the room is. If you are near the airport, expect it to look a little rough around the edges. This Sleep Inn is no different. It is a little rough around the edges but not any more so than the others around. I had a king bed. It was hard to tell if the room is a wee bit smaller than other Sleep Inn king beds or if the bed is actually smaller. Since it is just me, I have plenty of room to stretch out and I didn't use a tape measure to find out for sure - it did look smaller but it slept just fine. the shower water pressure and heat were great. I was on the 3rd floor about 1/3 of way from outer door. I really liked being on the top floor as it is quieter, no footsteps above. the hotel has at least 2 sets of stairs, one leading up from the lobby to the 2nd floor, and another at the outer edge of the wing. the outer ones were not carpeted which i think is a good thing as it is much easier to keep clean. some people let their dogs pee or poo anywhere so having it be concrete helps with cleanliness. the outer door has a button that needs to be pushed WHILE THEN PRESSING THE BAR ON THE DOOR SIMULTANEOUSLY. I put this in caps because several guests, myself included, could not exit those doors because we would push the white button, hear the click, then try to push the door. Because I am detail-oriented (apparent from this review, right), I finally figured out how to exit. I would hope the hotel puts up more clear instructions in case of emergency. the bedding was clean, the bath amenities were soap, shampoo, and lotion - no hair conditioner. I didn't need any so I didn't ask for any. The breakfast was acceptable. It had the typical cereal and waffles. I am celiac so do not eat these. I saw what looked like biscuits and gravy as well. It had coffee, teas, and juice, the usual steambath eggs but no sausage, and yogurt. The plates, bowls, napkins, and plasticware were of medium quality. They do the job but do not feel very good in the hand. the area around the hotel is okay. i have a service dog and we walk around quite a bit. We found some grass around the block near a government building. I have the habit of picking up after my dog but you will want to watch your step in some places. This Sleep Inn is a good place to stay. Rating it against other Sleep Inn, it is not as good as the Provo one and better than the Lubbock one. As for economy lodging, it...
Read moreThis hotel is a mess. We couldn’t even be dropped off properly at the front door due to construction materials and equipment, and then things went badly after that as well. Despite having prepaid for a king bedroom, when we arrived, the person at the front desk told us the only rooms available were those with two double beds. She was very pleasant and greeted as warmly. After traversing the un air-conditioned, worn elevator, and the dingy hallway, we got to our room on the second floor. There, we discovered that the engineered wood in the floorboards was curling up in multiple places all over the floor, creating trip hazards. When I called the front desk to say that this particular room was in evident disrepair, the front desk person said that all the rooms were like that. There was a hole cut into in our ceiling, the walls were paper-thin such that we could hear footfalls above, each door in the hallway that was opened nearby, and a dog barking at 6 AM, despite the fact that supposedly the hotel doesn’t allow dogs. The sheets were slightly stained and the pillowcases very pilled. And, of course, there was no pool, and no shuttle service to and from the airport, though apparently both of these amenities had been available in the past at this hotel. We couldn’t for the life of us figure out how it garnered such high ratings for such a decrepit place. We suspect somebody is cooking the ratings. It certainly is not a three star accommodation. I would be hard-pressed to even give it a one star. The breakfast was better than we expected, even though reconstituted powdered eggs are kind of tasteless. I certainly will never stay in another Rodeway Inn again. This place should be closed until it is in shape to support safe and comfortable customer...
Read moreBad experience!!! We were greeted upon arrival by a young woman asking if we had any fentanyl. She was sitting outside the hotel, entrance on a bench, and was obviously wasted. She seemed to be in distress, vomitting near where she was sitting. Reported to front desk and was told she was on the phone with her manager about the situation ( around 5pm) I was told the woman was a paying guest. Found out at 9pm she was two doors down from our room and there were two official looking people wearing masks, doing a welfare check on her. Overheard them telling the front desk attendant that the woman needed medical attention. Well, at midnight we were awakened by loud banging on the door down the hallway, and it was several law enforcement officers. After what was a very long exchange of profanities and yelling by this woman, they removed her from the premises. Not sure what was going on. I called the front desk and asked if there is any reason for concern. The man at the front desk sounded very annoyed and said he just clocked in and that they can’t be responsible for individual behavior, and in no way was reassuring about what was going on and woke us up in the middle of the night. Guess we should’ve taken it upon ourselves to call the police immediately or cancel our reservation and left. Very disappointing because we have had positive experiences at this property previously. This situation was not handled well at all as there were parents with young children who were also paying guests. The woman sat for hours on the bench outside of the hotel,...
