Under construction through May. They changed their name to AC Marriott, so it was hard to find. The area is great. Rooms are very modern. I'm slightly peeved that they didn't mention they were under construction when we booked, however they are the one of the cheapest hotels around this area. We are surrounded by much swankier hotels, within a 5 minute walk of the convention center, Coca Cola, and the Aquarium and located right across the street from Centennial Park. If you are going to a convention, then this is a must-stay place as it is the closest, most reasonably priced hotel you will find.
Even though the hotel is newly remodeled, the maid service is sub-par. They only cleaned our room once and we were here 4 nights, and they didn't re-stock anything. When I asked the maid for new toiletries, she didn't have any. And the work on the remodel is quite shoddy. I suspect that all of these modern fixtures are going to break in the next year; baseboards are going to rot because of the design of the showers, and the window shades are either going to fall off or get ripped off by a guest who can't figure out how to use them (they are only operated via a wall switch, not by hand). There is zero closet space in the room, no microwave, and the desk is useless for working as an office space since the refrigerator is under is (where your legs would go if you were sitting at it). The doors already don't shut by themselves, so if you just walk out of your room and don't look back or manually pull it shut, it will remain slightly open, obvious enough that someone would clearly see that they could push the door open and let themselves in. The entire remodel is for looks only and lacks in functionality or...
Read moreWhere to start, first I booked this room months ago, so I get that stuff changes but my biggest problem could of been fixed by simple things. First WE COULDN'T FIND THE HOTEL!!!!! Apparently sometime from the time I booked to when we showed up the hotel got bought out or something. The upper management must of decided to renovated the hotel. So when we showed up (around 11pm) the hotel didn't look open. so we drove around for an hour to find it asking 3 other hotels where it was and getting directions from a homeless person to find it and still missed it! Until we walked ALL the way around the building through the construction area to find the front desk. Second part of the reason I picked this hotel was the pool and breakfast, didn't find out about the pool till after we checked in. We were informed about breakfast but to loss out of the free breakfast with only a 15% discount at waffle house, was not what I was expecting because it was another way to save money we now had to spend. Also the construction workers started work early in the morning near the occupied rooms after such a late night trying to find the hotel, the wake up call sucked!!! We had no DO NOT DISTRIBUTE sign so the cleaning staff nearly walked in even though we called out telling them other room was occupied.
I do want to point out that the staff was amazing and did everything they could to make up all of our complains. They make off the construction zone, put up an entrance sign, and got us a do not disturb sign. But all of these complaints could of been fixed by a simple call before our check in date to let us know what was going on at the hotel. So a way we knew what to look for instead of...
Read moreLiterally the worst hotel I've stayed at. I reserved this room 9 months in advance when it was still a Holiday Inn. It was over $350 per night. Upon arriving we find that the whole hotel is under construction and that the lobby, pool, and restaurant are closed, so no breakfast or anything. Only a single elevator is available. They offered us 15% off at the next door Waffle House to compensate. The first day we were awoken by jackhammers directly outside the window. Next housekeeping tried to clean the room at around 8:30 before we could leave. We asked them to come back and they never did. We had to ask two more times to get them to give us some towels. Oh and we had the room for four adults, for which they gave us three towels. Parking is valet only at $25 per day as well which is somewhat standard but is still insanely expensive. All in all a terrible experience. For $350 a night I expect a fantastic hotel, not a barely held together mound of loud ongoing construction. I'll never...
