This weekend was full of problems. We arrived on Friday afternoon to a new agent in training, so it took a bit. Ok, that’s fine. The other person was from the office and training her but trying to help another customer too. This new agent struggled to make the room key and then I asked if the elevator was straight down the hall and she said yes. My husband and I arrived at a broken elevator with our large suitcases (we are traveling across the county and had a lot to carry). We begrudgingly lugged the bags upstairs and the room key did not work.||I went back downstairs and the office lady apologized and made me new keys. I asked if the elevator would be broken all weekend and she was confused. There was a working set near the desk that we were not told about. Ok, great. I went upstairs using one of those and went into the room. It was very dated and had a scent. We don’t spend a lot of time in our room when we travel, so I just went into the bathroom quick. My husband sat in the tilted-looking bed and sunk right down to the spring. Same thing when I came out to see what all the fuss was about.||I went back to the front desk where the office lady gave us a new room down the hall. This bed was still tilted, but it was a bit better. Once again, a very dated room with lots of chips and dings in the furniture and inside the tub. At least the mattress was a little better this time.||We arrived back later at the hotel to two fire trucks, a crying child, and another broken elevator. I don’t know what happened, but now there was just one elevator left. It did not sound great, so we typically took the stairs.||That night began a series of three nights waking up with our noses clogged with dust. The AC Unit just blew it out, but the room was so hot that we needed it. We had the temperature down to 60 and still could not stop sweating.||On Saturday night we came back and there was no hot water. Husband had hot water in the morning and showered then. He was in his pajamas and I was stripped down ready to shower. I tried calling he desk and there was no answer. I just ended up taking a cold shower. Husband tried to shower on Sunday morning again and it was still cold.||I went to the desk on Sunday morning before leaving for the day to ask about the water. The desk staff were unapologetic and said there was no hot water anywhere at the hotel and took down my number. They said that they would call with an update, I never received any call. We went back late in the afternoon and the new staff that had checked us on on Friday night was working. She actually apologized and looked like she felt bad. I asked if there was any compensation after learning that hot water would not back, but she and the other lady there did not know. ||We went back to our room and the keys did not work. I went back downstairs to speak to the front desk and new staff apologized again. She tried making keys and struggled. The other lady there also struggled. I said that one key was fine, but even that was a tall order. 10 minutes later I finally had a key. We went back out that evening and luckily the key worked when we came back later.||This morning we left as early as we could. Suffice to say, we will never be back here. It was rated three stars and looked to be a nice hotel when I booked, but it is definitely more of a one star. I should also mention that the door did not lock unless you slammed it shut. It should have locked automatically. And we tried breakfast on Saturday morning, but everything but the waffles were gone at 8am, so we left and never tried going back again. The Econo Lodge is attached and those guests have to pay $7.00 for breakfast. There is also a restaurant on the property. We didn’t go, but they advertised a full hot breakfast for $5.99. Perhaps this should be the included breakfast for Clarion guests, as breakfast does not seem to be their thing. Again, not a three star breakfast at all. It was just a weekend of many mishaps. We will absolutely choose a different hotel the next time we travel...
Read moreWe've stayed here numerous times over the past 5 years and each time it seems it gets worse than the last time. We stay here because it's closer to where family members live. (We'd stay at their house but they don't have room and we travel 4 hours to get to Broken Arrow).|The positive - the bed is comfortable. That's about the only plus except that there is a one-time pet fee of $25 for your entire stay (and not per each night).|The negatives - card keys don't work. We had to have them redone twice during our 2 night stay. The outside entrances to the building are ALWAYS unlocked and there is no card key entrance anymore. |Breakfast was really bad - coffee lukewarm, the juices were "out" both Sunday and Monday of Memorial Day weekend, very few choices - only eggs and greasy sausage links. One woman came in on Sunday and Morning mornings while we were eating and she filed her large tote bag with yogurt, apples, taking coffee cups and filling them with cereal to take back to their rooms (or wherever). After the food gets restocked, we see people come in and fill up plates to take back to their rooms. This happens every time we stay there. The cereals and the few pasteries or yogurts were taken in bulk by people. Unless one wanted a waffle, the remainder of the food there is confiscated by hoarders. The notice about Econolodge paying for $7 for breakfast is a TOTAL JOKE. People are coming right and left in there and taking food out of the breakfast area and no one questions. The signs posted in the breakfast area is a joke. People do whatever they want.|The carpet in the room and in the hallways are dirty and old looking. The chair had torn upholstery. There was NO bathmat - only two bath towels, 2 washclothes and 2 handtowels. I had to use a handtowel for a bathmat. Speaking of bath - the tub didn't drain well and I was standing in water above my ankles while taking a shower. Only one bar of soap. The tub/shower needed to be recaulked.|There was NO clock in the room. We've stayed in other rooms at this hotel and there has always been a clock in the room. But even worse than that - I started to plug in a nightlight and it sparked/busted the nightlight bulb - I could have been electrocuted had I not been holding the "shade" of the nightlight. It ruined my nightlight and I had to throw it away.|The ice machine on the 1st floor was broken so we had to go to the 2nd floor to get ice.|The front desk clerk on Sunday evening - we had to ask for a working cardkey around 10 p.m. as we couldn't get either cardkey to work to access our hotel room. We informed her that we wouldn't be staying the Monday night that we had reserved and stated that she could release it. She said "oh, just settle it when you check out and tell them then". Guess it was too much trouble for her to release so someone else could reserve it.|No internet capability on Saturday or Sunday evenings. Tried numerous times and couldn't get it to work. Never did get it to work.|No phone in room to call front desk.|When we came back to the hotel on Sunday evening (about 10 p.m.) the desk clerk was aggravated and asking everyone if they had a dog running loose because one was running the floor on the 4th floor without the owner(s) being around. Why doesn't the front desk clerk KNOW who has rented a pet-friendly room on that floor and tried to contact those who have rented a pet-friendly room???? It made this hotel personnel look so incompetent! Our dog is ALWAYS on a leash or controlled when traveling. |This place has gone downhill so much in the past few years. Anyone could walk through the outside entrances into the hotel - there is ZERO security. The front desk personnel have an "I don't care attitude".|This is in a great location, close to...
Read moreStarting with CONS first (there’s many): had a weird old metal + cigarette smell (was in the lobby, hallways and our original hotel room) (was VERY pungent the first time we walked in) our hotel room smelt so bad of the cigarette/old metal mixture that we had to get another hotel room (smelt fresher) BLACK stuff found on one of our beds that was supposed to be “clean.” it was hidden from one of the top covers, but if you checked and pulled it off it was there and looked gross. did someone know about it and try to hide it on purpose? Forgot to tell the manager about that, but it was bad Keycards didn’t work multiple times, had to rundown to the front desk frequently Broken drawer handle Yellow stuff found on the shower curtain & shower walls musty carpet smells TVs had trouble working initially CRAMPED bathroom; barely anywhere to stand, only had a shower, short toilet and a door. The sink was outside, which was kind of inconvenient. place for hangers was broken in our original room dirty + really old elevator (needs to be updated) one of the elevators was BROKEN; only one worked weird scratches on some of doors, which were indoors shortly after waking up and going about, I was scratching and realized I had bites. After reading the other reviews they’re complaining of roaches and bedbugs…that’s concerning room came with NO blow dryer; we had to ask for one; it should be standard if there’s a shower. The manager was polite though semi-dark hallways thin walls—definitely not soundproof; could hear noises from other rooms including the TV from across the hall rundown old meeting rooms; wouldn’t want to use it. really sad disappointing breakfast room—it was dark, uninviting, had limited options and was practically empty gym has NO WEIGHTS, mostly cardio machines so it’s limited on what you can do dirty curb, black stuff smeared on it dark entrance; needs more lights elevator doors SHUT FAST, be careful because if you don’t watch it, and try to hold the door, your arm/fingers can get snagged. Not sure if it has motion sensors but when we tried to hold the door open with our arm, the elevator door was still closing, we had to manually press the button. If there are motion censors, they did not work in the elevator we were in gunk found sink handle clocks on nightstands displayed incorrect time, that can be misleading place NEEDS renovation, respectfully most of its pictures online are misleading, either the vibrancy filter must have been on A LOT, or it’s just the fact that there’s not really any new pictures and the quality gradually decreased, but we were misled by the pictures online. It made the hotel look a lot cleaner than what it actually was.
PROS: friendly, helpful, down-to-earth manager + staff. gym is upstairs + somewhat has a view
Overall, we went in hoping for the best, but left very disappointed.😢
The staff tried their best to help us and were apologetic, therefore this review is solely about deteriorating quality of the hotel as it is old. I shared my experience with a family member and she audibly gasped and was shocked. She said she thought this place didn’t even deserve 1 star.
To those that run this place: PLEASE CONSIDER A RENOVATION.This will greatly help.
To anyone who is considering staying: Honestly, it’s just better to invest your money in higher quality place, even if it means splurging more. The price here is cheap, but I don’t think the value of what you get is worth it. Sanitization and the feel of a hotel matter more...
