The room I received on my arrival did not have working AC, telephone, or TV, which are all very basic necessities, especially during the summer. When I went to breakfast on my second day I informed the front desk of these problems and a person was sent to check the problems, they confirmed the malfunction of the AC (fan only, not cooling adjustments, did not respond to thermostat) and the TV (would work for a minute and then "freeze" and display three circles or a spinning circle on the screen). In addition, the TV streaming services lacked any local stations to provide weather information or local events, which showed a lack of respect for the local community and events, news, traffic, etc. that are happening there. This comes across as very detached and uncaring for the location and community of your hotel. The last thing I had a problem with in this room was a lack of phone service, as I don't carry a phone I was unable to speak with my family, and in the event of an emergency I would have been able to contact emergency services (911), or the most basic of services through the front desk or hotel management. This basic service is extremely important to families with small children as most kids are taught how to use 911 and may not be able to access an adult's electronic equipment.
As for the hotel amenities, there was a pool, however, there was no water in it. And there was a fitness room, however, it was locked and all the equipment was covered with tarps.
After complaining to the front desk and having a service technician confirm these issues I was told that I would get a new room, identical to mine and with working equipment. That was at 10:00am. I waited until 4:00 and still did not get moved to a new room. I then went to the front desk again to complain and the on duty manager said that they had an identical room for me with working equipment on the fourth floor. I moved my stuff up to this room and the manager had lied to me. The room was not identical and was a room that was not listed at the same rate as my reserved room and the TV did not work either (had sound only, no visuals). I was lied to and had moved my stuff, this woman was very disrespectful and rude. I moved back to my previous room and found the service tech that had come to my room earlier and he got a cleaning crew to clean a room for me that had working TV and AC, however the phone still did not work. At 6:00 I was moved again, which means it took 2 days to get basic functioning services, and once I had reported the problems with my room and services, it took 8 hours to assist me. And being lied to by the woman at the front desk still irks me!! Crappy quality, very disrespectful...
Read moreOur team stayed here for a weekend tournament, and while we are thankful the hotel was able to accommodate our group, this place left A LOT to be desired. We were not expecting 5-star accommodations but this place fell well below the mark of acceptable. The hallways are not well lit. One of the 2 elevators would get to the floor but have a long delay on opening the door. The cable coming from the wall to the TV in our room was not installed properly. The cable was coming from the corner under the faceplate. The TV was small and mounted crooked. The bathroom was an abomination. The ceiling and shower had mold spots, which every single parent in our group confirmed they had in their bathrooms as well. During breakfast in the lobby, we were approach by another patron who asked us about mold as she stated her bathroom ceiling was completely covered in large mold spots. The shower wall was cracked and I don't know when the drain was last cleaned because the water would not go down. The top of the cabinet the towels were stored had a thick layer of dust on top. We were only given 2 sets of clean towels in our rooms even though the parent who coordinated the booking for us told the staff member during booking that there would be a minimum of 2 adults and 1 child in each room. The faucet on the sink was crooked and loose. The door to the room did not fit properly as you could see thick areas of light coming from the hallway both above and below the door. This provided almost zero noise cancellation so you heard doors slamming, dogs barking, domestic arguments all night long. There were also groups of creepy looking men who are apparently staying there long term walking around ogling our teenage girls, to the point we made them travel in pairs/groups or with a parent for safety reasons. Our daughter could not find her toothbrush so my husband asked the desk agent for a complimentary, to which he was told there were none so he asked if there were any in the little store area and was told there were none available there either. The single toaster available for use during breakfast was only half functional, only 1 side worked and there was a long line. The roasted coffee has grounds in it. It was an overall unpleasant experience and stay and we highly advise anyone thinking of staying here to...
Read moreThis place was... Awful. The front door team was absolutely lovely. But every other part of our stay just made me grimace. It's like the building took an abandoned hospital and tried to turn it into a hotel. The hallways smelled funky, as if the carpets had water damage. We booked the room for three guests and the bathroom was only stocked for two. One member of our party went downstairs barefoot to get more supplies and came back with black feet....
Our room was just gross. Everything looked run down. The table was barely put together. Our phone wasn't plugged in on arrival. The lampshade was shattered on one side. In the bathroom, the doorstop was clearly an afterthought as two holes were punched into the wall from where the hook was. I have to assume there was a soap dish on the back wall of the shower that got moved, and they left the adhesive on the wall and never cleaned it up. Our shower curtain was ripped and torn and barely hanging on.
While there was a full length mirror on the closet sliding doors which was helpful as we were there for the Ren Fest, the doors were horribly warped. I was so happy to see an iron since my dress would need steaming. Nope. Not only did the steam function not work, the latch covering the water entry was gone and the sliding switch to determine how much steam was broken. So I needed to use a pen to move the dial. And it never produced steam.
"Breakfast is served in the morning from 6/7-10am" - sort of. It's a meager attempt at food. There was an 1/8 of a gallon of milk in the fridge by 8am. Cereal. Various slices of bread. Cream cheese but no bagels. Coffee. At this point I got mad that water was for sale at the hotel store.
There was a friendly dive bar about a mile away. There's a Denny's down the road (but this hotel had us so out off, we didn't trust anything in the neighborhood. Hotels help set the vibe for the location and this La Quinta is doing GB no favors)
In general this place just left me confused. At the end of the days we just needed a place to sleep and this accomplished that. But we've stayed at places at this rate ($135/night) and it was perfectly fine. This place was just gross. If Wyndham is copying La Quinta...they've got some serious work to do. At least in...
