Long story short: Before you buy anything from J.R. Furniture, YOU do the extra work, call them, and VERIFY the item they are listing on their website as available, is actually available. Or else it could be a "new item" and actually not available for two to three weeks.
Long story: Ordered the couch online July 17th. Seemingly no problems with the website. Website was clean and easy to navigate, and actually purchasing was no issue at all. HOWEVER, no where on the page for the item i purchased did it say it was a "new item" and currently NOT AVAILABLE to ship or pick up. Received an order confirmation email stating that the item is "getting ready for delivery" and that I would be contacted when my order is ready for delivery. Again, no where in the email does it say the item is new and currently unavailable, longer wait times, etc.
On saturday the 22nd I still had not received an update saying when the couch would be ready to ship. I called the store number, spoke with an associate who was able to quickly and easily look up my order, which is when I first heard that this was a "new item" and that it should be delivered to JR furniture on monday, to then get delivered to me. Hearing that it was a "new item" was a surprise, but not an issue at that time.
Now on Tuesday the 25th I call again after not hearing anything monday, which is when i was informed the truck was delayed and it should be ready thursday. I told them that instead of shipping to my house, i could actually come pick it up from the store. They said it would be no problem to take the shipping off and have me come pick it up. Again, they were quick and helpful, and i completely understand that sometimes trucks get delayed, not a huge deal.
Finally Thursday the 27th. Call the store, and now they're saying that it'll actually be TWO to THREE WEEKS until the couch is delivered. This the part where i begin to have a problem with JR Furniture. I've already gotten rid of my old furniture to make room, and using camping chairs in the living room. I double and triple checked my confirmation email and the website for this item. Again, NO WHERE does it say this is a new item, unavailable for pickup or delivery for two to three weeks, not one time on the phone with JR Furniture's employees did they tell me until thursday.
Call and ask to speak to a supervisor, owner, manager, etc. Get the owner, and I tell them i'm upset and this is unacceptable. He hears me out, apologizes for the run around i've been given, which I appreciate. He offered to try and work with me to get a replacement item that he would have delivered as soon as possible, however the first option was no where near what I wanted, and the second offer was for an item about $230ish more dollars than what i ordered. I asked if he would be willing to cover the difference with the new item as compensation for all the hassle, he said he was willing to split the $230ish extra half way with me.
Personally, at this point it was a matter of principal for me, and even though I would have been happy with this new item he offered, i felt after going through this ordeal he and his business should have covered 100% of the difference.
Even though we didn't come to an agreement, the owner was always professional and offered me a complete refund on my purchase. Not happy with the whole ordeal, and they wouldn't be my first choice for furniture ever again unless they had something i absolutely had to have for...

I am so disappointed in this company because I like to support local businesses. I initially bought my furniture on January 21st of this year. I was told that I could call and let them know when the move in date was. I did that and scheduled delivery for Feb 29th. They had a whole month to make sure they had the correct pieces. When they finally arrived my headboard was NOT on the truck. They had over a month to get the order right AND 2 weeks before delivery to make sure everything was available. There was NO communication about my headboard prior to delivery. On the delivery day, the movers scratched and dented the side of my dresser, which caused them to have to bring another dresser in. They didnt even put the railing together correctly, my friends and I had to do that. I wasnt too mad about the headboard until it came time to deliver it. Second delivery, the guys bring the wrong sized headboard. I bought a Cali King without the footboard and they brought one for a footboard. Please keep in mind that my ticket/receipt says specifically that it's a railing NOT a footboard. So another few days passed and I was told that holes could be drilled into the current headboard and all that. When the guy gets here to drill the headboard naturally it wont work because its the wrong size!!! I called the owner, John, and emailed him twice. I thought speaking to the owner would make a difference, it didn't. Of course he said all the right things when I was on the phone but I got no follow up from him. In one of my emails I asked how this whole messed up situation could be righted. I'm not looking for something for nothing but I've waited a month and a half for this furniture. Still no response. The people at Kimbrells messed up my order as well but they at least made up for it by reducing the price of another item. Again, not looking for something for nothing but show me you value me and my $1500. It is now March 22nd and I have to schedule ANOTHER VISIT so they can screw the headboard into the railings! This makes 5 visits in total. And I cant even get someone on the phone to make sure they will come to finish this sloppy job! Again, I'm paying $1500 for hassle and unprofessionalism. The delivery guys (other than the first set) were great and apologetic, my review has nothing to do with them or their work. They can't properly do their jobs without the correct information or tools. Do yourself a favor and GO SOMEWHERE ELSE, rooms to go, Bullards, Kimbrells, heck even rent a center has better service then these people. With everything going on with a pandemic, I do not have the time to have multiple people coming in and out of my house when all I am trying to do is keep my child safe! Read moreIf I could rate 0 stars, I would! We financed an entire living room set along with a TV stand and cocktail table. Everyone was nice and helpful! Upon delivery(no call prior)we were advised that the cocktail table would be coming seperatly bc they noticed damage from the floor model so a new one was ordered. Est delivery time: 2 wks. This was early Feb. Fast forward to today, MAY 19TH... still no cocktail table. We have since PAID off the entire purchase price but still have yet to receive our table. I called almost weekly to be told "It came in on the truck today!" ...get placed on hold then told it actually WASN'T on the truck but it is "scheduled" to be on the next truck on "x" day. Apparently some "inventory" issue. I call again a few days later... and get the SAME answer. I was NEVER rude and only spoke to Joe 2-3 times during this process. I always spoke to a female who was always nice. TODAY (a week after being told it was on the next truck) Joe tells me delivery is NOW scheduled for June 1st. I finally asked for a full refund. That's when everything changed. The price of the table was almost $500 from Ashley. A gorgeous Farmhouse table. Joe not only insisted he called me 9 times(never once called me, I ALWAYS had to call) but says that when he DID call, I was rude(NEVER happened!) and then tried to say the total refund we would get is only $200. Get this... because he gave us a discount on the furniture. So it just so happened that the ONE piece we DIDN'T receive, is the piece he decided to "apply" that discount to? Awful! We are out almost $300, not even enough to purchase a similar table! His entire demeanor and customer service changed as soon as he knew we wanted a refund. My fiance had went in person to discuss the refund and was met with hostility and aggressiveness causing my fiance to go on the defense. They asked him to leave the store and when I called to talk about what was going on, Joe wanted no parts in having a civil discussion with me. "We must part ways here" His business ethics are GARBAGE and the fact that nobody ONCE called to keep me updated on the delivery of a PAID, unreceived item is BS. As a business dealing with customers, it is basic CS ettiquete to follow up with a customer when they haven't received an item they PAID for, so you would THINK. I am just mortified at the way the entire situation was handled as if to say, "F*ck you" with a smile. They got away with not only not providing a paid for item but also in not refunding the full amount FOR that item! I do NOT recommend this business! On top of their terrible customer service and business ethics, they only deal with Ashley Furniture who ALSO is known to not provide items for months sometimes a year! Bad combination all...
