We arrived at 9:30 pm after driving for 7 hours. Our 50 something old bodies were objecting loudly and I could feel the road moving under my feet still. Getting checked into the room we had reserved 3 weeks prior was one of two things we wanted at that moment; the other being dinner because we had already waited to long to feed my diabetic wife.||||We entered the lobby doors and stood infront of the front desk We expected to be greated by a warm friendlly face who was awaiting our late arrival as we had called hours earlier to let them know we would be late. That was not what greeted us. No. What greated us was a sign informing us they were assisstibg another guest. It went on to tell us to just leave the keys on the counter. Not particularly helpful. No adivice how to get checked in by the employee absent front desk. ||||We tried calling thinking that surely.they took a cordless phone with them...but we just heard it ring unattended behind their sign. For about 20 minutes we waited. Sore, hungry, needing to use a restroom. Wen the young lady finally emerged, she walked down the hall towards the front desk. She neither acknowledged our existence nor did she appologize for the wait. She entered a door with a hand writted sign on it that said "WARNING if you are behind the front desk you best be ||front desk staff."||||Finally the young lady arrived at her post behind the front desk. She wore a plain white tank top that clearly showed a large white gauze bandage taped to her just under her right shoulder. There appeared be a bulge in the dressibg that looked like a drainage tube under the gauze. Silent I approached her in much the same way one would approach any mythical being. She also did not speak and finally looked at me square in the eyes, Still silent, and gave me an exaggerated shrug and eye roll that clearly asked the annoyed question of what the Hell do you want and why are you disturbing me. She eventually got us checked in and gave us keys. ||||Since there was now an urgency if feeding my diabetic wife we went right back to the car that for hours was our prision and sought food having not yet seeing our room. It was just before 10pm when we left and as luck would have it, in this part of Indianapolis everything closes at 10. Everything. We got off the road and searched for something, anything to eat. For over 30 minutes we called restaurants off of Google that said they were open only to learn they had not updated their hours that had changed due to COVID. We finally found a place open 7 miles away and handeled the pressing concern.||||We arrived back to the hotel and entered our room. The king sized bed was cornered in the far side of the room surrounded by mirrors. The floor had a stickiness and a squeak under my shoes that dared me to ask why. I didn't. All cable channels were out, a condition I expected due to yet another hand written sign at the front desk that unappologetically informed me this paricular feature would not be avaliable despite being listed on their website and us having paid for it.||||The whirlpool tub nested in the wall surrounded by mirrors scareaming in concert with the bed 'welcome to the 70's", had a waxy yet sticky sheen to it that did not proclsim clean to me. The control knob on the wall was broken. No matter, after the long delay we did not have time to mess with a two person tub and figured it would likely run out of hot water and prevent a shower anyway. So we each showered. The shower door was off alignment and would not shut. The shower itself made Superman's phone booth spacious. You literally had to get out, turn around. And reenter half way through. Back at the bed there were no electrical outlets on either side of the bed for phone chargers or either of our CPAPs.||||The next morning we woke. Packed. Not being daring enough to expierence the full breakfast that came with the room, we departed happy to be leaving. When I left I gave my contact information to the front desk for the manager to call me. In a final slap to the face as if Chris Rock had just insulted Will Smith's wife..the manager never called me.||||I was...
Read moreThere are several reasons I and my boyfriend will not be staying here again: Upon arrival, the parking lot is very broken and full of potholes. (Minor compared to the rest...) Entry into the lobby was greeted with smells of either B.O. or musty/mold, or honestly both Back door to building is unsecured, there isn't a lock or scanner to get in. Hotel room: a. Room door either didn't work (had to yank the door handle a specific way to get it to work, what?!?!), didn't shut with jiggling the handle from the inside before shutting it, and it still could be easily pushed open, so more or less our room could easily have been broken into... Even if we made sure it shut and latched.(Major safety concern for self and others staying there, plus makes me worried my stuff was not secured.) b. Towels/toiletries - there were 0 toiletries, except 1 roll of toilet paper (on the roll) and a bar of hand soap. So, no tissues in the tissue holder, no soap for the shower (I could care less about this, because I bring my own luckily). Towels lacked, were small, not white, and seemed more rag like... c. Curtains were busted, had to hold them closed with a hair clip. Otherwise we were looking at a German Shepard (Lovely dog, extremely cute, good boy, and protector of the back of the hotel) and the back neighbor at floor level could see right in the room... slightly uncomfortable with others being able to just look in on us in our room... d. Walls and Floor was full of random things, dead bug(s), crumbs from previous people, and etc. because I honestly didn't want to investigate and ruin the stay more... don't even want to start on the marks on the walls, don't even know what they were, but definitely not cleaned well... e. Beds - We had 2 queens, both beds had issues... one had holes in the sheets (cut holes), random hairs all over under the main covers, and stains... the other was "fine" I guess, but then the pillows had marks. Also both sounded like they were placed on metal sheets, because pending how you sat, there was a loud metallic snap/bang... f. Smelled so bad we went to WalMart just to get air freshener... I don't know how to explain the smell, but it even made my mouth taste bad... Other things to note: a. The front desk person attempted to get into our room at 10:30pm on our last night, literally using the master key to get in, and luckily we has the lock/door stop engaged, otherwise he would have walked in on both myself and my boyfriend sleeping and that would have been even more terrifying than what seemed like an attempt to break in. And then when i answered the door the front desk guy was telling us we were not supposed to still be there (mind you our cards were not working, and this is how we learned that we could easily push the door open, because with trying the "trick" the front desk guy showed us the night before when the key wasn't working, it just opened... scary). He argued with me, so I pulled up my confirmation email and he had to take a picture of it, didn't say anything about if we were okay and just walked away... I was most definitely freaked out from this, and had no reason as to why or anything, so then I sat and went through all worst case scenarios, of if we were getting kicked out, would I get refunded for the missed night, etc. b. (One good thing!) I was over charged for our stay. And upon check out, it was the same front desk guy from the night we checked in, the one who attempted to enter our room when we were sleeping, and then was there for our checking out. He kindly printed our final bill, and showed me he refunded the additional charges, since what we had for our confirmation for our stay showed one price and he, when checking us in, charged us more than what we were supposed to be charged. (I am still awaiting the refund for the over charge, so hopeful this does get done, as it was the only positive from our stay... outside of getting to see the German Shepard, which honestly was confusing to see and have connected...
Read moreI've stayed at a lot of Choice Hotel establishments. I have never once recommended that a franchise be pulled. This hotel is the first.
First, what I found good about the hotel.
It is very reasonably priced, when compared to other hotels in the area.
The bathroom looks like it had a recent tub/shower and enclosure installed and had a new toilet.
The vending machine goods are priced below normal, for a hotel in the area.
HOWEVER:
The facility is worn and grubby looking. The hall carpeting is beyond the need for a DEEP cleaning and should be replaced.
I stayed in room 229. That new shower I mentioned has the water temperatures switched. Hot water is on the right and cold water on the left. This should be reversed.
My first night, I turned the valve all the way to the left, waiting for the water to get hot.
Grubby does not stay in the hallway. I was afraid to sit on the sofa. It also looked like it had been a LONG time since it had been adequately cleaned. The tear in the front of the top cushion didn't help that impression.
Back to the bathroom. To flush the toilet, you have to continually hold the flush handle down to get the water to go down the drain. More than once, this procedure had to be repeated 3-times to get enough water to empty the bowl.
The carpet in the room again, needs a deep cleaning. Vacuuming does not get all of the dirt out. You don't realize how dirty it is, until you take a shower, and black footprints show up on the tub floor.
The coffee pot is located in the bathroom. I guess this really doesn't matter...since it didn't work anyways.
Management might be trying to save money by not putting out new shampoo, lotion, body wash, etc. Those small tubes must cost a fortune, since they don't replace them each time a new guest checks in. Mine had a couple obviously half used.
No microwave in the room. I've never had a hotel room, without a microwave.
MORE:
The posted times for breakfast on a Sunday were 7:00 to 10:00 a.m. For a Monday, it was 6:00 to 9:00 a.m. (The two mornings I was there). If you don't get there in the first hour, forget getting any kind of variety. On Sunday, I was there at 8:30 a.m. Out of eggs, out of sausage, OUT OF COFFEE, plenty of breakfast cereal, but out of milk, and out of fruit. They did have a waffle maker and a carafe full of waffle batter. I'm not sure what happens when the carafe is emptied. I informed the front desk person that there wasn't any food left in the breakfast buffet and was told that there wasn't anymore. He did gratefully make another pot of coffee. When I came down on Monday morning for breakfast at 8:00 a.m., it was obvious that this was a regular occurrence. My wife and I went to a restaurant for breakfast.
Those two reasonably priced vending machines.... both have broken money changers. One only takes paper bills. The other only takes coins.
The ice machine doesn't work either. This might have something to do with the air filter. There's a sticker on it saying to clean the filter monthly. It had the looks of being a lot longer since that had occurred. The bathroom air vent in our room also had the looks of being a long time since being cleaned. So, this might be a scheduled maintenance issue.
Also, Mr. Manager, while you're thinking about all of the above, have someone clean the stuck piece of candy off of our air conditioner button. We were afraid...
