Towne Manor Motel — Hotel in Johnstown

Honestly, it’s been close to 2 decades since I’ve been there. From reading recent reviews and seeing pics, not much has changed. Though I’m sure it was exactly as it was in the 60’s when my family and I stayed there in the 90’s. The place seemed like a time capsule back then, but timeless now. Definitely old and neglected when I was a kid but it was always fun … we’d be there for the state wrestling tournament so other kids were there too. No matter how gross the adults felt just walking in the door, all of us kids had a blast playing in the place. I even remember watching Eminem’s Slim Shady music video in the lobby on a tv that may have been a first generation color model … all scenes were green and purple lol Hard not to look back with fondness...

Conveniently right at the bottom of the funicular incline which was one of our reasons for coming. Not fancy but reasonable for the night. We asked to see a room first since i often do at the cheaper motels and we liked it. Then we came back with our car and checked in and she tried to put us in a different seedier looking room and im like whoa... But we insisted and she gave us the original one. She said we would have to drive to get beer but we decided on the nice three mile or so round trip to a beer jointb pizza parlor that was packed. Basic continental breakfast. Free muffins and pastries, maybe some fruit i think. Noggin fancy but great price for...

when i first walked in the lady that checked me smelt like weed, and she acted like she didnt know what she was doing. She left my id out on the desk and walked away. The room she placed me in had bed bugs, so i had to wash the tub out and let my one year old sleep in the tub since she didnt want to refund my money. They had little muffins out in the morning plus oj. The white lady(the owner i think) is very nice. She called me a cab once...
