Generally, if there's a small issue with my stay I won't focus on it in a review, especially when other aspects of my stay have gone well. That's not the case with this Econolodge.
Things started off with the indoor pool listed as an amenity having ice cold water and only a dim light in the enclosure. The main reason I selected this hotel was because the website listed an indoor pool. I'm not even sure this pool was completely indoors.
Next, I started the shower and quickly discovered that there wasn't a complementary shampoo in the bathroom. I got dressed again and went down to the desk to ask for one. The person at the desk looked irritated and asked if I was asking if they had shampoo at the desk. I said I just wanted one of the little ones. The person said Oh we don't have that, said it was because the truck was late. Walmart and drug stores were closed by that time. The person suggested going up the the Circle K to buy shampoo. I didn't have much choice so I ended up buying the only bottle of shampoo at Circle K, and it cost me approximately $9.75.
The next morning when I went in for breakfast, I was able to make a single waffle. The tray in the fridge that normally contains butter, yogurt or cream cheese was empty. I had to go to the desk to ask for milk, and the same person from the night before came to get a jug from the locked storage room. I asked if there was cream cheese available, and the person said no, they just didn't keep any because "they" always take all of it. I asked about butter and received the same reply "they" take all of it.
I was a paying guest for one night at this Econolodge. A representation was made on the website that there would be a hot breakfast available. There was a waffle iron, but I couldn't have any butter, and I couldn't have any cream cheese -- which is my condiment of choice for waffles.
A waffle with not even a single pat of butter doesn't equate to a hot breakfast. The truth behind why I couldn't have a dinky little bottle of shampoo became abundantly obvious. The keepers of this Econolodge have no interest in making guests feel welcome. Where they could make items available by request, they offer resentful remarks about previous guests' behaviour.
This Econolodge is a sorry excuse for a Choice Hotel. My overall rating for...

RUDE STAFF- SMELLY BUILDING
I arrived to find 2 other guests dealing with a gentleman “John” at the front desk because their rooms were double booked.
I waited patiently as they dealt with the rooms. As I waited...a woman named JULIE, who was the manager on duty, showed up and very shortly and with out making eye contact asked “what do you want”.
I started the process of checking into my room. John asked what room size I wanted and how many people were in the room. Then asked the manager if there was a room available for me. Because of the other guests dealing with their rooms being double booked and since they were making sure I still had a room, I asked if my room would still have the AAA discount applied. I couldn’t understand what Julie, the manager, said as she mumbled without looking at me- something about parking and that we were not to take towels from the room to the pool.
I asked to see the receipt and was verifying the price on my original booking on my phone. I was told I needed to hurry up and leave nearly ten seconds after I had received my receipt. I said just a moment- I needed to check my bill. The man behind the desk, John, decided to explain how a 17% tax works and that I needed to move because the people behind me had been waiting a long time (the people dealing with a double booking). I said, “go right ahead and help them- I’m just checking my bill.” I was again told I needed to leave.
Then I went to my room.
On the way I saw the unique way this hotel does their laundry.... they lay it out all over the hallway to fold and dry it.
All of the outside doors are propped open- very unsafe. The entire property reeks of mold and cigarette smoke.
The rooms were disgusting. Not even okay for $60. See the photos for details. I’ll just be using the space to change and get ready for the event I drove 14 hours to attend tonight. I won’t be staying- I’d rather drive through the night and sleep in my car after...
Read moreWe have stayed at this hotel for 15 plus years on Memorial day weekend give or take a few years we decided not to go that year. We use to have a great time there and the price is amazing. Two years ago we stayed there and my sons and their dads room had bed bugs. They took care of us and moved their room and gave us a little back on our room so we decided this year we would give them another chance. My kids dad and boys room ended up having mold on the ceiling and when it rained the ceiling leaked. They moved them out of the room but then we found bug bites all over my son, on his arms, legs and torso, even one swelling up on his face. again their room had bed bugs but they had already moved rooms before we realized it. The people that were put in that room after us found the bed bugs and also complained of the mold. We found several roaches throughout the hotel in various spots, the pool was a weird milky color and the hot tub not even in use any longer. mine and my girls room had bugs in the bathroom I don't know what kind they were, then there was a mouse in my room at 2 am scared the crap out of me and one of my teens. On top of that, the breakfast use to be great with several options and now not very many at all. We have decided we will not be giving this hotel another chance. We are sad to move on after so many years but I was terrified to take anything out of my car until it could go straight to the washer and dryer. My son has been looks like he was in a fight and my kids are freaked out about the roaches and pray we didn't bring any home with use. even the clean clothes that didn't get worn did not come in the house until they could go to the washer. We are sad but will be moving on and no longer recommending this hotel to any...
