I'll start with the good. The room was decently sized, fairly clean, and the hardwood floors were nice. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was very clean, the air conditioning works really well. For the week that my partner and I stayed there it did it's job and we were mostly comfortable. However, the walls are paper thin and the place was extremely noisy. Into the late hours of the evening we could hear our neighbors screaming racial slurs and threats at each other, slamming doors, throwing things around, and it doesn't really seem like the manager or any of the workers here feel compelled to do a thing about it. Multiple times a day our door was knocked on by random strangers, whether they actually lived here or were just wandering by we could never really tell. Our sheets were permanently stained with blood, the floors feel dirty and we didn't even feel comfortable walking around in bare feet on them, and at one point when we left to go to the grocery store there was an exterminator's truck parked out back loading up furniture, so that didn't give us much peace of mind. Again, I would like to reiterate the constant screaming and fighting neighbors. The internet connection was awful and cut out more often than it was reliable. On top of all of that, I wasn't originally booked at this hotel. The one I was originally booked at closed down for health reasons and my reservation was transferred to this one. I had already paid in full there and was assured that I would not have to pay again once I came here. However, I discovered several days later that in addition to having paid in full for the first hotel, I was also charged by the manager here for this one, $500 dollars each payment. This may have been an honest mistake but when I called the first hotel for a refund I was told that the manager at the Quality Inn had been told not to charge me and was to even be given a check covering the costs of everyone that would be transferring over to this hotel. Altogether, it's difficult for me to have any trust in this hotel and I can guarantee I won't be returning.
Editing to add that on my last two nights here I received three different knocks on my door; one at 10 pm, one at 4:30 am, and the last at 6 am. On my second to the last day I encountered three different homeless men sleeping around the property of the hotel, the third of which was sleeping directly next to my car and asked me for cigarettes. I understand it isn't the hotel's fault, they can't necessarily stop strangers from pounding on my door in the middle of the night, but if you're looking for a family stay or even just for a hotel where you won't be woken up by screaming neighbors, slamming doors, and who knows who else, this is not the place that...
Read moreI arrived and parked my 10' U-Haul in the southeasternmost corner of the lot with the back of the truck to the fence wall to prevent someone from breaking in (the lock I brought with me didn't fit). This slot also was in good view of the office. The female desk clerk told me where I parked was perfect because my room was just around the corner. I neglected to bring to her attention that a three-foot metal pole along the fence was already knocked over before I arrived, as I am sure that their security footage would attest. The clerk said they would put a $100 hold for damages on my room, which would be released when I checked out. My room was comfortable and clean, but the bathroom sink was so slow draining that it was kind of disgusting to brush my teeth. The next morning I went to get breakfast 1/2 hour before it closed, but there was barely anything to eat. There was no yogurt, bread or fruit, and the waffle batter dispenser had an "Out of Order" sign. The only items left were a cup or so of Fruit Loops and a cup or so of Raisin Bran. I had to settle for a small bowl of cereal so that the people behind me had something to eat, too. I remember that checkout was slow because it was making me late for an appointment; for some reason it took two male clerks to help the one guest ahead of me and didn't acknowledge my presence. I noticed that the "Out of Order" sign was no longer on the waffle batter dispenser. Two days after checking out I noticed the $100 charge was still on my debit card. I attempted to call them, but it appeared to me as if they had blocked my phone number. I called from another phone and was told they kept my $100 because I knocked down their pole. When I told them the pole was already knocked down, the male desk clerk told me his general manager told him to do it. I asked for the general manager's number, but was told they don't give it out. I asked that the general manager call me, but my call was never returned. I complained to Choice Hotels and they were sympathetic. I called my bank to dispute the charge. I called Cox Communications to come and inspect the pole to determine whose property it was; City of Mesa said it didn't belong to them. They had a tech come out, but I wasn't available when they called me from the property. The bank just informed me the dispute has been found in favor of the hotel. Choice, please ask to see the security tapes and know what kind of management is in charge...
Read moreI wish I could give this place zero stars. This was the absolute worst hotel I have ever stayed at. We reserved 1 room for 2 nights online. Since we were driving from Colorado, we didn't get to the hotel til about 3-4am. When we got there we were told by the lady up front that our room was given to someone else. For what reason I do not know. We were then told that we had to give a $100 deposit cash only. We were not told that before or haven't seen that posted anywhere. And could not use a debit card for payment. So we had to find an atm down the road since, surprise, theirs was broken. So they gave us another room that was supposedly an upgrade (I would have hated to see how the room we were supposed to get would have looked like...). This room was absolutely disgusting. Heavily stained couch. Disgusting shower/tub and toilet both with stains everywhere. Moldy sink. Black, filthy floors, the minute your feet touched the floor they would be black. Hair and dust in corners of the room. The only thing ok was the bed, king size and comfortable. So that was the room. The next day my spouse went to get us breakfast from the lobby and was going to bring it back to the room for us. She got 2 plates ready and as she was leaving the lady up front said she is not allowed to take food out and back to the rooms because the "manager" was there. So 2 plates of food were wasted into the trash. I'm sorry but I have never heard of not being able to take breakfast back to your room. As my spouse was leaving she saw a family and kids taking out plates of food back to their room with no problem and no one saying anything to them about it. It is extremely disgusting to think about how these people working here think and how they treat different people. As we were checking out, the same lady then asked if we wanted our deposit back almost as if it was supposed to be a tip for her. I was absolutely appalled. Everyone working here and especially the "manager" should be ashamed of this disgusting...
