This is the dirtiest hotel I have ever been to, they had the dirtiest carpet I have ever seen in all my 40 years!!! It was disgusting. We didn't read the reviews before booking my husband saw "Marriott" and picked that one šŸ¤¦šŸ¾ā€ā™€ļø, when we pulled up he said are they shut down...we should have just left then. The first hotel room smelled like urine soon as we opened the door. There was toothpaste splattered on the mirror, the faucet was dirty, I can't comment on the bed because I didn't make it that far. My husband went down and they were kind enough to quickly give us another room. The 2nd room had been semi-"cleaned", they forgot to put the furniture back (it was on top of the sofa see pic)...the sink was dirty, & the tub was questionable, but the bed was made and looked clean. I expect to sanitize a hotel room when I arrive but not have to literally scrub it down and wash it. The AC was set on 68 and even though we turned it up it did not change. The next morning housekeeping was in the hall and one of the employees yells out, "they took the whole bed apart"! Another housekeeper asked, "what"? She replied, "they took everything off"! 😳 My husband and I just looked at each other, now we wondering did we sleep on dirty sheets!?!?! What could she be talking about! Why is she upset they stripped the bed! I thought that was a courtesy. I usually request a new set of sheets, and change them myself, but I was tired so I wasn't my normal type A self...laziness doesn't pay friends. So you know I stripped the bed, completely, I pulled everything off. I hope they changed out all the linen. In summary, don't stay here this place is disgusting...I'm glad I have all my shots.

Highly disappointed with this Marriott brand hotel. We only stay at Marriott brand hotels and this was more like a Motel 8. 1st, walking to our room, there was caked dust all over the ceiling, the wallpaper was peeling off the walls. Once we got into our room, OMG!!!!!!! There was black mold all over the bathroom ceiling. The ceiling in the bedroom had stains all over the ceiling. We couldn't tell if it was mold, water damage or just unimaginably dirty. The room had an awful smell to it. We asked to change rooms and the front desk staff accommodated us. The 2nd room was better (to say the least). The lighting in the room was awful, absolutely awful. You had to sit under a lamp in order to read anything. The beds were very old, unless you slept in the middle, you would fall off the sides. My daughter got sick around 5am due to Texas Roadhouse and when I went down to the front desk and asked for sprite or ginger ale or water, I was told they don't carry either soda and they sold out of water. Please keep in mind that none of this has anything to do with the staff. The staff were so kind and helpful and you could tell they enjoyed their job. The problem lies with the owners of this hotel, which are obviously no longer Marriott. The pool was so slimy you could not enjoy it. I would never advise anyone to stay here. I opened the fridge (which obviously had not been opened in a very long time because the ice build-up was thick as you can see in the 1st picture.

Everyone should completely avoid staying at this hotel. I will give credit that the staff was nice, but I think they're limited by upper management in what they can do. The carpet all over the hotel was filthy. The area the hotel is located in does have a high crime rate compared to other areas. See attached picture from crimegrade.org A co-worker and I stayed 1 night and checked out the next evening after talking with a local customer we had met with that day. They told us to get out of that area immediately, and to switch hotels. There was no bottle water provided in the room and the snack area that you normally see to purchase items was mostly empty. The signs around the hotel, and in the rooms, said that the breakfast area opened at 6 am. When I went down to get breakfast that morning the staff told me it doesn't open until 6:30 am. We had to leave at 6:30 am to meet with our customer so we couldn't get breakfast that morning. The customer we met with told us to not stop at any convenience store or gas station in that area. We switched to another Marriott property in a better area but Marriott still charged me an extra night at the Courtyard and declined my refund request, even though the co-worker I was traveling with did get that night refunded.

WHERE IS THE HEALTH DEPARTMENT?!!!!!! POLICE? I wish I could give this 0 stars. This place is rumored to be an OLD RED ROOF IN. There is mold in common areas, as well as private rooms, no security on doors to the outside, fowl smell, and more. In my first room (felt more like a jail cell) had bugs on the second floor, a door that doesn't close on its own, and broken toilet. I complained to the front desk and was assured "that never happens." Neither of the ladies look surprised at my complaint. I was then reassigned, specifically asking for a FUNCTIONAL toilet. The next room's toilet UPON FIRST SIGHT had brown streaks all throughout. I did not even have to step into the room where the toilet was located to observe this. I could barely stomach getting any closer; however, I did, because I just could not believe this. There was abundant, softened feces settled in the bottom of the toilet bowl. Visibly had been left like that for day. The ONLY reason I have not attached a picture is because I cannot bear to either see the image again (except it will live in my memory) or to have the image on my phone. YOU don't even deserve to see it. It would literally be taken down if I posted it on Facebook for violation of community guidelines... I once again reported this to the front desk and there was nothing done. No compensation and once again a denial that this has ever happened. AS OTHER REVIEWS HAVE STATED, I never once saw a cleaning person. Because here, the cleaning person are the abundant bugs that share residence with the mold colonies in many areas of this "business." You are just paying the mold and bugs' rent by staying here and donating to a business that takes advantage of any poor soul that attaches the name Marriott to a building. For your own health, and that of those you love, stay somewhere else, even if it is a journey. I believe a Motel 8 would treat you better. They had the audacity to offer FOOD from 5-10 p.m. I don't even have to advise you to avoid. Corporate will be hearing from me and also my pulmonary care provider. Last, this is not a cheaper nor better option. Shame on them to have high rates compared to some in the area. Omg....

I would not recommend this hotel.

  1. when we arrived at 10pm we were greated by an angry person who somehow locked themselves on their balcony and had the deadbolt on their room door. Management was asking if he would climb the balcony to get to another room. The gentleman was going on about how he would do it and would then bust his door down and he was going to call the police to report them and how he was goinng to make the biggest scene he could. (Not sure why they didn't just call the non-emergency line and get the fire department to assist- but hey not my call)
  2. there is no heat regulator on the hot water. Which is SO dangerous - there is a nice warm/hot shower then there is actual skin burn hot water. So anyone with kids becareful when washing hands or taking a shower.
  3. one side of the bed had parts of the frame sticking out (we could not figure out how to fix it) - perfect length and height to attack ankles and trip a person
  4. the carpet was gross feeling and bumpy when walking on it
  5. hallway ceiling was questionable and gross
  6. random questionable dirty spots on the bathroom wall next to the toilet
  7. the fire alarm going off at 1235am - was not pleasant. There was no follow up from the hotel as to what happen - did we have to evacuate - was it all clear to return ? Pretty sure it all had to do with point #1
  8. the elevator B would close super quick - one would have to run on and hold the open button as it would close often and hard otherwise making it impossible to load a cart.
  9. most importantly - please note this hotel is split!!! One side (elevator a) only goes up to room 131 - if you room number is higher than that you MUST use elevator B. We were not told this - we were told to just drive around back and enter the middle door. Make sure to ask which elevator (a or b) you need. We may have also received poor directions due to the balcony drama they were handling at the same time. But was not fun hauling all our stuff on a cart while carrying tired kids only to discover we have to go back down and search the hotel.

One good thing - the...

This hotel is in terrible condition. As a Marriott Rewards member for the past 20+ years, I always considered any Marriott property to be a nice, clean, comfortable and trusting hotel to spend the night. I am extremely upset about my recent "attempted" stay at the Courtyard by Marriott located at 5555 Carmichael Road in Montgomery Alabama. I cannot believe that this hotel is still categorized as a Marriott Hotel. I left in the middle of the night and drove over an hour away to stay at another hotel because all of the hotels in Montgomery were sold out. I drove all the way back to Birmingham at 11pm at night. I have NEVER felt the need to do have to take this type of action in my years of travel. This hotel was dirty, nasty, sketchy and WAY below all Marriott standards. Upon arrival, I found the lobby to be hosting a couple of loud and strange type gatherings. The front desk worker was busy in the breakfast area doing something and I had to wait about 15 minutes before he was free to come help me with my check in process. There was someone there who might have been management but he was dressed in jeans with a baseball cap, not at all Marriott-like. The lobby was littered in trash with napkins and cups laying around on the floor and tables piled up with trash. There was some type of tarp on the roof of the drive up area outside the building that did not appear to be remodeling but more of a cover up for damage done to the roof area. After I finally got checked in, I made my way to the parking lot closest to my room entrance. I noticed I was being following by a guy in a van who drove up behind me, parked directly behind me, watching me get my luggage out, which totally scared me. I got to my very hot, dark, smelly room. The smell was a room deodorizer that was WAY over used, left a film in my mouth. The bathroom was awful, stained up tub, sink and toilet. I left in disgust. This resembled a Motel 6 and needs immediate attention. I expect...
