My rooms (plural) were disgusting.
I had booked a whirlpool suite. The room had a serious bug problem, and it had not been cleaned properly. When I saw bugs crawling on the bed, I did a more thorough look. The carpet was covered in crumbs around the bed; someone did not do a good job vacuuming. There were also several bugs in the whirlpool and the bathtub. And when turning on the water for the whirlpool, a bunch of dirt came out from one of the faucet handles, and there were things floating in the whirlpool itself.
I went back to the front desk to report my concerns and show some pictures. I will say (and the only reason this is "fair" and not "poor" is) that the desk agent was very nice and apologetic about it, but there were no more whirlpool rooms so I was downgraded. (No word on if my payment will be similarly downgraded.)
That room ALSO had issues with stained furniture. The gentleman at the front desk said he wasn't surprised and that the whole place is going to be renovated in the near future. That's nice, but when there are obvious stains on the seat cushion under the area where everyone's rear end contacts the cushion, you kind of wonder what fluids leaked out of a previous occupant, and you really don't want to sit there. Not sure why housekeeping didn't report this to have the furniture shampooed, but both rooms had stained chairs and such. Yuck.
The towels in the bathroom are ridiculously small, they're not very soft, and most were frayed and worn. They also had a terrible odor to them. I had to use three towels to dry off. Also, while drying off after showering, I found a hair on one of the towels--definitely not my hair. Two of the four light bulbs in the bathroom were out; one kept flickering anytime I used it. I tried to tighten them, but it didn't help.
Maybe I just had bad luck, but the stains were so obvious and the missing lights so noticeable that I have to conclude either housekeeping isn't doing its job or the hotel just doesn't care about cleanliness and appearance.
A few other notes: there was only one reading lamp near the bed. I was by myself so it wasn't a big deal, but if you have more than one person, that could be a challenge. Breakfast was good enough: gotta love a fresh waffle. The eggs were kind of dried out. Having multiple tip jars around the breakfast area was a bit much.
Overall, if it were only hotel left left with a vacancy in town during the busy season, it would have been serviceable. But this time of year, you can find plenty of cheaper and cleaner rooms around. Frankly, I wish I...
Read moreI always believe in leading with the positive things so here goes: great location near the outlets with places to eat, check in was quick and pleasant, and the rates were pretty reasonable and straightforward. I also appreciated their policy for no excessive noise after 10 pm.
Just to touch quickly on what many of the other reviews have already highlighted: room smelled sweaty and musty like a locker room, armchair was excessively stained (but seriously, what’s with all those mystery stains?) and somehow there’s literally never a manager to be found during regular business hours.
Also in a really bizarre encounter, the breakfast attendant was super grouchy and harped on me for a good 5 minutes because the timer on my waffle maker didn’t initially reset so it must’ve been my fault. She kept saying over and over that it was because of me, even when no one was complaining about the waffle timer. She did this within earshot of other guests to the point that they were giving me sympathetic looks, and then laughing to themselves at how ridiculous she was acting. She continued talking about it to other guests and her coworker when we were in the adjoining breakfast room and could hear everything, then waited another 10 minutes until my spouse went up to make a waffle (she must not have known we were together) and started pointing at me saying that “the lady over there broke the waffle maker” over and over, when it was working just fine. My spouse asked her multiple times to please stop, to the point that I had to get up and ask her why she was still making such a big deal about it. So what, the waffle timer didn’t go off even though it actually WAS flipped correctly. Not the end of the world. Does Radisson Corporate descend upon the continental breakfast room, firing everyone in their midst if the timer doesn’t reset? Is there an option to unplug it and plug it back in instead of belittling and humiliating a guest in front of their spouse, child, and other guests? It just felt like someone getting their jollies by repeatedly making another person feel dumb, especially after I apologized multiple times for any perceived mishap. On a positive note, it was a great teachable moment for our son about how to treat others, even though he’s 10 and knows how to be kind.
Shockingly enough, not a single manager has been found to address this situation that happened a week ago. Interesting also that a guest wrote a review 3 months ago about a lady admonishing their sister about the waffle maker in that...
