My partner and I spent one night at the Inn while attending a friend's Halloween party in Mount Joy. While looking for rooms on the website, I read that if I called to book that I could ask about available discounts. So I called to book and Nancy gave us a discount! While on the phone, she checked about food allergies (for breakfast) and recommended other bed and breakfasts in the area we may want to try if my partner's cat allergies would be too bad (there are no cats in the guest area but there are cats in the other side of the house). Check in was quick and easy, Nancy gave us our tea and a brief tour of the house and our room. The whole house was decorated for Halloween, it was charming and tasteful. We stayed in the Charleston room, it has beautiful floors, a comfortable soft bed, nice en suite, and vintage luggage/home decor. It is the bedroom right over the kitchen, which did not wake us up (though my partner could hear breakfast starting once he was already awake). The house is in great condition. As to be expected with an older home, we could hear guests when they came in the front door, were on the stairs, or in the hallway (with quiet hours this wasn't a problem when going to bed). We regaled ourselves of the complimentary tea in the living room many times. The Inn is in a sleepy town but right on the main two lane street, so there was a little traffic noise (again, not enough to interrupt sleep). Breakfast was from 08:30-09:30am and it was delicious. We started with a honey and orange glazed grilled pear with feta cheese, followed by scrambled eggs, sausage gravy over a biscuit, and a sweet potato mash, and finished by strawberry shortcake bits. The food was expertly prepared, and Nancy (and another woman who's name I didn't catch) briefly visited with the guests to check on their stays while we ate. She is a lovely host and made us feel at home. I highly recommend staying at this...
Read moreThis place is the perfect place to stay! It's about 20-30 minutes from all the best vacation, sightseeing, entertainment, activity, and outdoors locations you could want to visit on a trip to PA. Hershey Park is close, Mount Hope ( ren Faire) is close, Litiz, Harrisburg, and of course all the gems of Lancaster County.
The Innkeeper Nancy is extremely personable and helpful and will go out of her way to help you find whatever it is you'd like to explore or see more of in the area. Her cooking and three course breakfasts were the highlight of our stay, truly delicious, healthy, and well portioned.
The Carriage house was super romantic and comfy for me and my partner when we visited.
All of these benefits to the stay including the pool and enjoyable local spots ( Dutch Pretzels, Bube's brewery, and the local shops are great for hanging out, and if you want to just buy food at the local Giant and make microwave/kitchenetter, curry, enchiladas and such to tide you over it's very doable as well.
We ate like royalty for breakfast, slept peacefully, and were able to feel safe. No bed bugs, no sketchy stuff around the area or near the inn, and we had a parking spot :).
I highly recommend this place. If you do book, please try to do so directly through Nancy as you can always get a better rate that way when booking.com and such don't take out fee's or charge the innkeep for the advertisement.
The price for five nights at the carraige house was extremely reasonable and affordable. We are so...
Read moreBeen wanting to write this review since we visited Nancy in May. We got home and things got really busy.
Anyway. We went on a family road trip and stayed two nights and three days in the Olde Square Inn. Nancy is an excellent host and chef.
My three young adult children and I stayed on the third floor suite. Very spacious, clean, comfortable and homey. My father who is handicap and my stepmother stayed in the cottage. The cottage was very accommodating for my father since he has a hard time climbing stairs. They both loved that it was a very private space, clean, comfortable and very homey as well. Nancy's breakfast were very delicious and the best part of it all was the breakfast dessert. I felt spoiled. It was nice to be served such amazing food.
Nancy is very easy to talk to. She shared some suggestions of where to shop and eat. The pool area was very quiet and serene. We were able to take a refreshing dip and lounge around poolside. She also made sure we had clean linen daily and with our permission tidied up our suite.
This was my families first B & B experience. Nancy did an awesome job and we would definitely do more B & B's. I would 100% recommend The Olde Square Inn. If we ever get another chance to visit Mount Joy, PA we will...
