All it had going for it was that it is clean. Do yourself a favor and spend more money if you want to sleep.
As another reviewer started they appear to be running a shelter out of this hotel, I never asked but in hindsight it makes the most sense for all the strange stuff I heard and saw.
One unsettling thing was as I was first walking to my room I witnessed hotel staff enter three rooms with only a quick knock, a "be clothed and decent" warning/command and no pause; they did this three times in the space of time it took me to walk down the hall. It was pretty unsettling to watch, destroyed any illusion of hotel privacy. Needless to say I used the security latch.
The main thing that kept me from sleeping was all the noise for the street beside the hotel. When I looked out my window to see what was going on I got the treat of witnessing a pretty blatant drug deal... So that was fun. The noise kept going pretty much all night..
When I was leaving I nearly got ran over by a Mercedes SUV speeding through the parking lot at 4:30 am. Now this parking lot is so stupidly tight at the exit that they could only be going this fast if this was a regular thing for them or if they were stupidly lucky
Short summary: it's cheap and clean, but noisey and feels pretty unsafe. I will be staying somewhere...
Read moreI'll start this review with the good: the bed was comfy and we did not see or feel bugs. Now the neutral: This hotel was advertised as being close to the airport (JFK). It was a 25 minute Uber ride away. Maybe that is close in New York City but it didn't feel close to us. Now the bad - everything else!!!! The hotel had junked out cars outside (see photo) and what appeared to be hookers nearby. It felt like a bombed out war zone in a poor country. The hotel had a filthy reception area and hallways and reeked of marijuana strong enough to burn the throat (so much for their supposed no smoking policy). The person at the front desk insisted I had booked only a single queen bed for four travelers and made us purchase a second room so the place was the price I would expect to pay for a luxury hotel, which this was most certainly not. There were screaming babies next door all night long. Our view was of a junk yard. And when we went down for the supposedly included breakfast, there was absolutely none. I have been to a lot of hotels in a lot of different countries and this one will be memorable as the...
Read moreTerrible, loud location. Across the street from a bus station and train station. Down the block from a boarded up project. On a busy street, police sirens all night. Rude, unwelcoming staff. The receptionist stared at as we pulled our luggage down the stairs off the street into the lobby, without so much as a hello. The only thing this rude girl could manage to was “ID” and our room number. The next morning while we waited in the lobby for our Urber, the guy behind the desk was the same way. He stared at us with out saying a word. The hotel was dingy and strongly smelled of pot the entire visit. There are large stains on the hall carpets and walls. Our room was tiny and had been heavily smoked it. It was musty and also stained. There were loud parties all night in other rooms. We were only here for 14 hours between flights or we would have gone somewhere else. This place is a blight on the Days Inn brand. Spend more money and stay...
