Pelican Motel — Hotel in North Myrtle Beach

My family and I just came back from The Pelican Motel after our five day stay and we miss it already! This place is perfect for many reasons. Parking is ample and you don't have to park across the street like you do so many other places. The Pelican sits directly on the beach and there aren't a bunch of stairs to climb to get to it. It's walking out the door of your room and in a few feet, yours are touching the sand! It is a multi level motel without an elevator, however, ground floor rooms are ample. Deck chairs accompanied by a cute little table are fixtures outside of each room, where smoking is permitted while enjoying the sea breeze. Has a decent size pool for a swim with shallow end being at 3' and deep end at 8', and a small wading pool if you're just looking to relax. Both pools and deck area are well maintained. There are tables with umbrellas, plenty of table chairs, as well as full lounge chairs all around the pool area. A shower is located just outside the pool deck, where there are wooden benches to rest your beach bags while rinsing. They also have bbq grills if you feel like cooking out, that are in the yard just outside the pool deck. You're able to pass between grills and the pool through a gate, as pool area is completely fenced in with self locking gates once they've closed. It's a quiet, lowkey, family friendly environment. Everyone we've met there, staff and guests alike were neighborly and inviting. We became friendly with the owner of The Pelican and he is a really nice man! Very down to earth. He chatted with everyone as if he'd known us for years and made everyone feel so welcome and right at home. The rooms are clean and stocked with everything you'd need to make a meal and clean up, such as... plates, bowls, glasses, coffee mugs, utensils, pots and pans, dish soap and hand towels. Has a coffee pot, a microwave, 4 burner stove with oven, toaster, refrigerator, and the room we had also had a kitchen table that seated four. Bathrooms are equipped with a full size bathtub and shower and the water pressure is great! Each room has an adequate size tv (I believe 42") with cable and wifi. It's just a really neat place that's cozy with a nostalgic feel. We actually extended our stay another night because we were enjoying ourselves that much! Stores and restaurants are within walking distance and many more to choose from with just a short drive. There is a Walmart located approximately 3 to 4 miles from the motel. We've already planned another get away to The Pelican Motel before the weather gets too cool this year and are excited about returning! For such an affordable price and the comfort of home, what else could you possibly ask for? This is our new home away from home when we visit...

My family has went to the Pelican for 7 years now for vacation, loving every year except this year. When we arrived the new owners had given our room away which I reserved the year before when I was there for our vacation…which you can’t talk directly to anyone even at check in or check out only via text with all concerns.||My room was not only the wrong room but absolutely disgusting from the front door to the bathroom. Our kitchen was so bad it had grease all on the stove top, inside the stove, the drawer at the bottom was covered from side to side inside & out. The refrigerator had duck tape on the door to hold items such as mayo, mustard ect. Moved the refrigerator to sweep to find not only one but two tampons under it along with a ton of trash. The bathroom had urine all behind the commode with splattered poop on the wall in front of it. I could go on for an hour.||I took pictures of everything. I contacted Viagem (new owners) immediately via text & email with a very detailed email explaining the wrong room with how dirty the room is and all pictures with a video to back up my claim. I also texted Victoria (manager) on her cell phone with the no response. One of the maids came in and kept apologizing couldn’t believe it.||I was told I could leave them and get a full refund which I told them I couldn’t because there was no where else to rent.||The person I had texted & the person who I had emailed Promised a Full refund for all the problems I had. Now let me remind you this was in July. Now it’s the end of August and I haven’t received my money back, or any additional contact. I have tried to contact them and they will not respond.||DO NOT STAY AT THE PELICAN….it’s not the same Amazing motel that it used to be when Tracey was the owners. NEW OWNERS DON’T CARE, THEY ARE LIARS.||STILL WAITING ON MY REFUND THEY SAID THEY WOULD MAIL! Now they will not respond via text or email to me at all. I have all emails & text along with the...
