It's rarely been my experience to be so disgusted as to write a review several years after the fact but this is one of them.
My wife and I stayed here regularly several times per year until 2004. We found the place pleasant, priced decently, and in a nice location. However the Owner turned out to be severely lacking in courtesy.
Picture this....you're off in la la land when a train drives through your room. At least, that's what I thought it was, until I got up and poked my head out of my second floor room to encounter an "employee", in reality a 15 year old kid with headphones and bad acne, riding a skate board and pushing a laundry cart around while attempting to wake the dead.! He failed in that effort, but was eventually successful in waking the ENTIRE HOTEL as I could see from all of the heads poked out of other doors in the vicinity. (come to think of it now, some of those other people LOOKED dead. I can't blame them though: it was 6 a.m.!) The few doors that remained closed must have been discouraging, or a challenge, to him, for he proceeded to ride back and forth in this manner for at least another 15 minutes.
But it wasn't the end of the world really...I'm young, reasonably refreshed, and after all, I wanted to get up early. So I packed up all the unnecessary stuff and began lugging it to the car when who should I meet but the Owner (I believe it was him anyways. An older white headed gentleman. And I use that last term loosely.)
Feeling more gracious than I imagine most would, I felt it prudent to warn him that he may have complaints coming his way....
Me: "You may be accosted later. Some kid was riding a skate board around this morning" Him: "Mind your own business" Me: "?"
"Now, I must not be conveying the information properly", I thought.. "I rarely get that kind of reaction when I tell the C-store clerk that he's out of TP or when I ask the fast food girl for some ketchup. Let me try this again."
Me: "I'm just letting you know that he woke everybody up." Him: "We have to get the rooms clean"
Now, I'm a non-confrontational sort of guy, but, begging to realize that this pair's actions were intentional, I must have framed my next comment with more irritated a tone than perplexity...
Me: "At 6 in the morning?" Him:"You need to go on and leave"
Well, I took his advice. In fact, we haven't been back to Pigeon Forge since. And IF I can ever think of that town without recalling this incident, I may go back. But I can guarantee you this: we'll be staying somewhere we're appreciated. Maybe in Gatlinburg
(okay, that might be unfair, but take heed Chamber...
Read moreLong story short we probably won’t stay here again. We appreciated how close it was to Dollywood and the price was great but it wasn’t worth it, in our opinion. Each room had two chairs outside of it which they use to swap out old towels, but when we arrived basically everyone was sitting outside and watching us. Check in staff was nice but incredibly slow-after driving for over 8 hours with three young children and arriving after 10 PM, we just wanted to go to sleep. She had my ID in her hand and still required me to give all of my information to type in, even though A. it was entered in on my reservation and B. again, she had my ID in her hand. Check out was a breeze on my phone and the staff in the office to confirm our check out was kind. ||Pros: location, parking (got back late from Dollywood and found a space right next to our room), noise level for shared walls was quiet. ||Cons: blood stains on mattress cover, hairs in the bedding, large water stains on ceiling in the shower, large hole in the wall next to the bed, large hole next to the shower knob (honestly kind of creeped me out and I checked for a camera in it, maybe just paranoid but you can’t ever be too sure I guess), housekeeping was absurdly loud in the morning which woke us up (banged their carts into basically everything that was outside). ||Overall we won’t be...
Read moreThe ONLY MANAGER hung up on me twice saying I spoke to her "like a dog" when the only thing I told her was that my reservation acknowledged a king room & an email later received confirmed an adjoing room for family already checked-in. She must be using that line as a cover to THINK she could speak to me rudely about having just told my daughter that my king reservation was NOT available, nor was the adjoining room. Very rude, spoke over me & blamed everything on booking.com (including the email that she later admitted to sending ONLY because I told her it came from the property).
I then told her she would lose both reservations, to which she stated "She didn't care".....wow, must be nice to have a manager in the hospitality field like this lady. I have sent booking.com notice of her behavior, notice of cancelation (both rooms) & how she blamed them for everything. I really hope she owns this establishment & doesn't work for someone-- because she treats you like you don't matter & it's her money to pay with.
Thanks lady...my daughter is now hunting another reservation with 3 children in tow.
We will NEVER recommend...
