Here's a detailed review of my stay:
The next room I got, #210, is a double bed room. This one was MUCH cleaner than the previous one, except the floor was not vacuumed throughly because there were little crumbs in a few spots, but not bad. I sanitized everything just to be safe, though. Both rooms have a very loud air conditioning unit, that despite the noise work extremely well.
#2 * The hotel staff -- Real nice people at the front desk. The maintenance guy is nice too. Just be warned that a lot of the cleaning ladies don't speak English very well and a few of them were a bit mean.
#3 *The building -- it's a mid '80s three-story building that is in desperate need of a renovation. The paint on the outside needs a new coat, the rugs are a bit stained, the fire alarm system is original to the building (I am a fire alarm technician) and the elevator works but is pretty ugly. They did a pretty good job soundproofing the building, however loud noises can still be heard.
#4*Continental Breakfast -- Waffles are the make-your-own type, and there's toast, cereal, bagels, and muffins. I'm not a coffee-drinker so I did not try the coffee. The waffles weren't very good, and the bread was a bit dry. At least it was free, but I should have gone to the nearby IHOP. Oh well.
#5 *Location -- It's built into a parking lot for a very small mall, where there is a Price Chopper supermarket walking distance from the hotel, which is great for late-night snacks since they are open 24 hours. There's a Subway and a gas station across the street, and there's a Midas car repair place next door too. The best part, though, is the small restaurant right next door to the hotel called Al's French Frys. The food there was SO GOOD. The hotel is just under a mile from I-89, and about two to three miles from the city of Burlington.
#6*Overall -- It's a pretty nice hotel, just needs a lot of cleaning and updating, and the staff needs to do a better job cleaning the rooms. I've heard better than this from La...
We typically stay at La Quintas when we are traveling, if we can. The La Quinta in South Burlington was in a great location. The area seemed safe and there was a lot to do close by and within a short drive. When I called to make the reservation, Brittany was very helpful, sweet, and had great recommendations for us. We were actually a bit surprised by the age of this La Quinta upon arrival. This one must not have undergone the renovations yet that other La Quintas have that we have been to over the past several years. This location was still very clean and well maintained. It was just outdated and it really showed in the noise level which traveled through the door/walls/windows and in the shower pressure/temperature. During the night, I could hear people's conversations in the hallway, I could hear banging next door, and doors slamming throughout the night. It was not as quiet as other La Quintas. The room was very spacious and the bed was VERY comfortable. The bathroom was spacious as well, but the tub/shower was small. My husband had to duck to get his head under the shower head. The problem I had with the shower was the temperature and the water pressure would drop if someone near us turned on their shower as well. When paying the price we did for our room, I would hope to be able to sleep without hearing neighbors and to take a warm shower. I always appreciate that La Quintas are pet friendly and have a hot and yummy breakfast, even though we did not have the breakfast this time. This location overall is great, but I think they could stand for a few upgrades/updates. The front lobby was closed off for construction, so I hope this is the beginning of the updates. The updates would take it to the next level. The staff was very kind as well. Overall, it was a...
Read moreI have stayed at this place several times over the past 1.5 years because of its location and the fact that it allows me to keep my dog with me and I will probably stay here again in the future for those same reasons, but I'd warn anyone else looking to book here going forward to think twice about booking here. First, they price gouge you over labor day weekend when all of the UVM students are checking in because they know people need the room and will pay the money. I've stayed in far better hotels in other cities that don't charge the amount of money I'm paying this weekend. (Labor day 2017.) Then to top it all off they can't even ensure that the wifi works consistently in the evenings. I had the misfortune of dealing with a particularly uncaring, apathetic and downright rude person at the front desk on Saturday and Sunday evening regarding this matter. Her lack of professionalism and courtesy was astounding, again considering the rates being charged. (It appeared to be the same person both nights.) Saturday's response to the lack of wifi was two curt words, and then culminating in "i don't know" when asked when it will be back up. Sunday was even worse. She had the audacity to say that she didn't "control the wifi" when I again complained about the wifi going down. She'd have been better off just ignoring me than to respond with that attitude. She works at the front desk; they're supposed to be able to control everything in the hotel and at least make some attempt try to remedy the problem. Or at least pretend to care. If she's the best the hotel can put forward for customer relations then I wonder whom they opted not to hire!
Again, I'd advise people to look elsewhere for accommodations...
