I don’t usually write reviews like this. In fact, some might call me “hard to please.” As a travel agent and event planner, I’ve stayed in some of the best hotel’s in the world, and executed an innumerable number of events. Despite high ratings or reputation, it’s almost impossible to work with a hotel and/or catering facility without any problems. However, at The Four Points by Sheraton, there were no problems! In fact, from check-in, to hosting 2 events, to check-our, the entire staff was extraordinary!
This past weekend, I had a wedding room block, hosted a morning-after brunch and hosted a New Years Eve Party at this hotel. From the very beginning, Kimberly Millin was incredibly helpful with the planning process. She went above and beyond to accommodate our needs and requests. Her care and professionalism is unmatched by ANYONE I have EVER worked with at a hotel. She was in constant contact throughout the months of planning, and onsite to make sure every detail was executed perfectly!
The front desk staff made check-in a quick and easy, and they courteously gave each person a wedding welcome bag. They helped with anything that was asked of them, including directing deliveries and even printing from the computer.
The rooms were clean and spacious and nicely decorated. As a frequent traveler, I always carefully inspect the bathroom’s cleanliness, especially the tub and shower. The tub was so clean that I actually took a bath, which has only happened 2 other times (at a hotel) in 24 years!
The Banquet Manager, Hernan, and catering staff, Elizabeth and Gabriel, were nothing short of extraordinary! They worked all day and night, from the 10:00am brunch to the New Years party which ended at 1:00am. They set up, helped decorate, cleaned up and served with perfection! They tended to every detail and accommodated every request. They, too, went above and beyond, solving issues before we even knew they existed!
I can sincerely write pages, praising each detail that made the entire weekend so wonderful. Instead, I’ll sum it up with this: as a perfectionist, they exceeded my expectations in every way! I highly recommend this hotel and look forward to working together...
Read moreI’d say pretty much every aspect of this stay was awful.
the booking process was a disaster. The website wouldn’t allow us to book sufficient rooms (5) for a family wedding nearby, so I called and had the misfortune of speaking to an agent who confirmed I would have to place three separate bookings. Marriott systems don’t even allow different numbers of guests per room in the same booking - which would seem pretty basic and low hanging fruit. This meant a 5 minute reservation was in reality the best part of an hour long chore.
we requested early reservations. These were never confirmed at any point from booking to even the day prior - or even the day of - the booking. In the end we were able to get in somewhat (30-60 mins) earlier so we could get ready for the wedding locally after a 4-hr drive. It would have been far better to just confirm the request rather than make us chance it.
the front desk folks were generally rude and unhelpful.
the doors we were told were ‘sticky’ and needing brutalising to open - not ideal with three carry-ins and some suits in tow.
the key card got blanked with mobiles. Perhaps invest in phone-safe technology - I think it’s fair to say phones are here to stay
the app-based key-card didn’t work. So in combination to the above meant three trips to the front desk at midnight just to try and get back into our rooms. The front desk personnel didn’t offer to come and help at any time despite several attempts to code new keys or open the swollen doors.
smoking areas (including for the front desk personnel) were essentially the front door meaning asthmatics like myself coughed and choked every time we entered the building or made our way to the front. At which point the hotel may as well have just permitted smoking indoors.
Front desk didn’t bother confirming whether breakfast was included or not in our rate even when I enquired (it was midnight and I didn’t have the energy to insist). Instead just giving me the times and a menu - pointless without knowing whether included or not for our...
I have staying in this hotel for roughly 8 months as I have had a project out here for work. Having traveled frequently for work, I can say that for the price, this is the best value. The rates are reasonable given the level of service that is provided.
The front desk staff is extremely helpful and very friendly. The two people I would like to single out for going the extra mile are Sean and Tom. They do an excellent job of recognizing their top costumers. For example, I leave a bag here every weekend so I don't have to bring it back and forth. After a few weeks of asking for my bag when I returned for the weekend, Tom recognized this and had my bag placed into my room prior to my arrival. I also make a habit to ask for a water when I leave and return for the day since I like to stay properly hydrated, and they ensure that an extra water is placed in my room prior to my arrival. Checking in on my arrival is less than a minute as all I need to do is present my card. As a frequent traveler, I appreciate it when staff recognizes this things and goes out of their way to make your travel away from home as convenient as possible. Definitely recommended for business travelers.
As for the property, it's not a 5 star property, but as I mentioned earlier, the price is well below that of a 5 star and is an excellent value.
It has a fitness room with two treadmills, an exercise bike, and an elliptical. I have found that the fitness room has always had available exercise equipment, which is nice because most places I have stayed at I need to go very early in the morning (before 6 AM) or late at night (after 8 PM) to have equipment available. My one complaint would be that they have free weights, but no benches to use them, only seats for an exercise station that is set up.
The hotel offers free wi-fi for your stay that actually has decent speed, being able to stream video if you would like.
Overall, I have had a good experience at the hotel thanks to the staff and their helpfulness and would recommend...
