I would not stay here again if they paid me. We arrived and checked in normally enough. The lobby looked like it had seen better days, but there was no obvious red flag. Then, we were directed to the elevator. The elevator looked unsafe, moved slowly and unevenly, and gave a general feeling of unease. We arrived on our floor and were greeted with a full bag of trash right next to the elevator. That bag of trash remained for the majority of our stay, finally being picked up just before we checked out the next morning. Upon entering our room, I was immediately unimpressed. Beyond the general appearance of disrepair, it was obviously not clean. Someone gave it a quick once-over, like a waiter quickly wiping down a table, but it hadn’t been truly clean in quite some time. I attached photos of some of the worst of the grime. I checked out the mini fridge, and to my surprise, there was a sopping wet towel inside. The thought process was obvious. “These people are just staying one night, they won’t notice that the fridge is leaking, we can fix it later.” That leak turned into a giant puddle later in the night, so the floor finally got some cleaning when we dried all the water up with one of our child-size towels. All of the towels had at least one stain, presumably from being used on the floor. Further inspection under the sink revealed extensive dry rot, also pictured. There was some luxury, as looking into the bathroom revealed that one could sit on the toilet with their feet in the tub at the same time. When we checked out, the receptionist barely took her AirPods out to hear my complaint. I wouldn’t recommend this place to my worst enemy, and I legitimately believe it should be condemned.

Want to stay in a nasty hotel??? Stay here ... If I could give this place a negative rating I certainly would. The rooms was disgusting. Dirty in every corner, floor was broken, mold on the ceiling, mismatched paint, spitball shoved in the peephole on the door, front door did not shut completely and therefore had a huge draft, no drain cover in sink, broken mirror, bugs and flys in the room, kitchen counter was broken , all the light switch covers were missing screws, the furniture was beat up and the lamination was peeling, burn holes in the bedding and patio furniture. The elevator feels like it might explode at any time. I had booked two nights online based on the photos.... the photos online are not of this hotel. I refused to stay any longer than I had to, I left the hotel the next morning and booked another hotel. I have gone back a forth with the hotel management and they refuse to refund my second nights stay... what a joke. Would not ever recommend this hotel to anyone. The staff were kind. Can’t fault them in anyway. They did their job. The ownership of this hotel is pathetic. They simply wish to line their pockets with your money while doing the absolute least they can to keep the building standing. If this were my first impression of a travel lodge /Wyndham hotel and or first impression of Virginia Beach. I assure you I would never return to either...

Location excellent! Rooms are old looking. We had 2 rooms for a week. Double bed room 5th floor. It's an older hotel, location and manager were 2 best things about it. Housekeeping and maintenance were awesome. The bedroom has two beds and bathroom with tub. Sink with vanity is outside bedroom. There's a pull out couch, microwave, fridge and sink in kitchen area. Table and chairs and floor lamps, safe box and sliding glass door to balcony. One slow as a turtle elevator for 8 floors. Pool was clean clear and maintained well. Hose outside of hotel to rinse sand after the beach day. Parking is limited one car per room. Don't let the reviews scare you, it's an older hotel it's been used again and again. Balcony was safe, location great for ocean view and across from shops. The balcony facing the main drag gave great private views of the free shows on the street below. If you want fun and lively this is a great location hotel. Housekeeping was present and when they weren't there you just go get what you need from front desk. Easy check in, they do ask for a security deposit for incidentals which isn't put out there ahead of time. All in all it was a good, lower cost stay. Photos are street view from front of hotel balcony and rest are from room balcony overlooking the ocean.

Only good feature of this Hotel is that it is Ocean Front - Parking is crammed, and there were 4 or 5 men who looked/dressed like derelicts hanging out next to the laundry room which was off the parking lot, and they were making remarks and noises and whistles, etc. The way to the front door from the back lot was obscure and the only help I received locating it was from the two laundry attendants who were very nice and directed me. There were no signs that I saw. The outdoor pool is surrounded by tall cement and was not open in the a.m. around 9, because the “chemicals were not right”, and they were waiting for someone to come fix them. I am local here in VA, and my husband works in engineering, and he holds a Pool Certificate here in VA.so they cannot open the pool without a person who holds a VA certificate to adjust the chemicals. There were people in the elevator also complaining about the pool not being open when it is supposed to be. They eventually got the pool open, but I have no idea what time it was, but wouldn’t you think they would have someone on site during the season? Room had a tiny Bathroom with a tiny toilet, slow drains, and bad water pressure. There was barely enough room to stand between the toilet and tub. The tiny sink was between the main room and bedroom, and the facet was so close to the back of the sink I could Harley get out hands under the faucet. Broken chair on deck and in main room. Pull out couch with springs and very little mattress. Arms of couch were disgustingly filthy. Carpets had big stains. Fronts of cupboards and stove were filthy with stains and hand grease all around knobs. Tiny Coffee pot had no pot/container. There were two small dirty gooseneck table lights in main room that were more like night lights, so we had to leave kitchen light on to see well. Wifi was a joke. Could not get more than 9% most of the time. The cement deck was so disgustingly dirty it was hard to believe. Stains that looked like urine in the corners and looked like it hadn’t been swept in months. There was a CAPPED electrical cord wedged in the bottom of the panel that separates the deck next to us. LIVE??? Did not try to find out! The lobby is also dirty, and dingy. The staff is not warm at all, and they had an angry-looking maid standing there with a mop bucket at breakfast time staring at people. I was waiting for my Grand-daughter to come down and I sat for 15 minutes or so, and all she did was with a scowl on her face. In view of the filthy conditions everywhere, my grand-daughter and I were afraid to eat the continental breakfast and certainly we were not going to chance feeding anything there to her 4 children.

You can see many photos I took of the filth of this place, which I posted on Trip Advisor along with...

My girlfriend and I stayed at the Travelodge as we wanted to ring in the new year (2016) at the beach, but funds were limited. She is more selective about hotels than I am, but out of the choices of dumps available Travelodge seemed the least flea-ridden for the money. Our expectations were low, but we figured nearly any place would be worth it to auld lang syne oceanfront. On to the review: Location, location, location. All rooms are oceanfront (not ocean view) with a private balcony. The hotel is fairly close to the pier. Parking was tight, but available (one per room at no charge). The bedrooms (windowless) are separated from the living room by a door and sink. I liked that feature a lot actually, created a real sense of privacy. I think all rooms have a fridge, sink and microwave. The living room heater in the room we booked didn't work nor did the wifi (free wifi btw) even after the maintenance man tinkered with it and said, "I just don't know why it isn't working" a few times. The staff, who assured me they were completely booked, transferred us to a different room with no fuss. The staff were friendly, but a little short on words. It's worth mentioning that the heaters (one in bedroom, one in living room) worked very well which was a pleasant welcome during the frigid new year temperatures. The entire interior, bathrooms in particular (esp. the toilet water pressure. toilet flushed when it wanted), needs a complete renovation, but the rooms were livable for a few wave-filled days. The hotel offers an "on-the-go" breakfast, but we never woke up early enough to see it. At this point I wasn't completely turned off. I wouldn't choose to go back if I had a choice, but I could see how it could be worse. Then the bites came. My girlfriend and I sat on the same side of the couch and slept on the same side of the same bed during our stay. 8 bites appeared on my person, 0 on hers. I never felt them as they happened, but they were visible and itched, no burning. I saw a tiny bug on the couch when we arrived, but we'd spent a good deal of time outside. Perhaps there was a ride-along who followed me inside or maybe a spider in my luggage. Granted you can feel spider bites and I don't have any bites after sitting on my couch or sleeping in my bed. I won't say the bites came from hotel because I can't prove it, but I will say I didn't have any before and haven't had any after my stay. The bites really were the icing on a half-baked cake. I didn't expect much, but I didn't expect bites. (I didn't expect our neighbors to be involved in a fight that warranted police presence either). I can't say I'll be a return visitor to the Travelodge unless I have to choose between staying there and sleeping outside. If it's the summer I'd probably risk sleeping...

Im only giving this crap hole one star because i had too, to make a review, it isnt worth a point on a star! My family stayed here over the Memorial Day week from May 29 to June 5 . The things that are said about the dirtyness and the smelly elevator are 100% true.So we arrive and check in they charge us the rest of the $1100 dollars for the week and precede to tell us we can only have one car tag to park one car. My wife and myself and our 2 young girls 7 and 9 are in our truck and my step son and his girl friend were in their car so they tell us they cant park because only one car per room, now keep in mind we got a room with double occupancy so why cant we have 2 car parking! So my step son and girlfriend had to park their car 2 hotels down and guess what yea pay $25 dollars a night! So crappy alert number 1 !Crappy alert #2 The room the carpet was wet the bed linens had burn holes the sheets had spots and nothing out side of the tvs had been updated in 10 years or more! Crappy alert #3 You can smoke weed anytime anywhere in this hotel not my idea of a family oriented place!Crappy alert #4 and the one that really ruined our vacation we were in room 506 and about the second day of our stay a couple and their kids occupie room 505 and the living hell begins they dont watch their kids and they slam the doors alnight and fight, the kids and their so called parents! Get on the balcony and smoke weed so bad that we cant even open the door to breath! It gets worse while we go out to beach and try to salvage our vacation these idiots climb under the petition seporating our balconys and get in our room( yes we forgot to lock the balcony door im still pissed at myself for letting this happen) so they steal my kids wifi headphones and some other items belonging to my stepsons girlfriend they try to decode the safe and freeze it up so we cant get in (thank god they couldnt get in cause all of our electronics were in there)so we make a complaint that fell on def ears nothing done! Until the security lady comes up to unlock our safe and hear them cursing and slamming doors she knocks on the door and tells them to stop they say f you and slam the door in her face! She calls the police they come and talk to them and still nothing they stay! So during the night they continue and completly destroy the room and leave! So the room destroyed and our vacation and money wasted! They didnt offer and resolution to the theft of our items nor did they offer any money back i am in the process of trying to get a resolution from Wyndham group they own travel lodges no answer yet! If you have booked this hotel cancel now and find a more respectable place dont make the mistake we made! I want our money back so we can get a real room and have a...
