We came to wislow for a wedding but also came to see some of the historical route 66 locatons, the Eagles famous "staning on a corner" location & see some of the outdoor activities northern AZ had to offer. The hotel was under construction in the main lobby, which was not disclosed at the time of booking. The unlevel, majorly chipped up concrete was exposed, and a huge tarp divider up dividing off the mail lobby & breakfast area from the front desk, making any of that area unaccessible. Therefore, breakfast was very limited and was served in the pool area with the chlorine gases. Not appetizing. There were random, sparse furniture pieces around to eat on and ony 2 small tables. Everyone was looking around like where do we sit, even though there was room for more tables. The room itself was clearly unvaccumed, with a pile of shavings some sort, next to the bed. At that point, I began to notice the whole hotel wasn't vacuumed well. Small debris everywhere in the room, near the closet and down the hallways & stairs while walking to breakfast. Generally unkept. The information binder was outdated. There were 2 outlet plates/ receptacles, both near the mirror, not screwed in the wall properly in the room, so when I would use them I'd have to hold the plate back to unplug my straightener or the half of the outlet would come out. I reported it as a maintenance issue. We unfortunately had a huge cocroach crawl out from the flooring edges in the bathroom while my son was using the restroom that we had to kill. I also noticed one while leaving near the entrance we were using on the west side. So more bugs... We can expect it a little living in AZ but not on the 2nd floor of what is supposed to be a name brand hotel. Spray for bugs 🙏 The hallways of the hotel are permeated with chlorine gases b/c of the indoor pool, which made it hard to breathe, but the room was fine. The widow can be opened & the AC worked fine. The unit just ran loud even for an under the window unit. The service at night was a person who showed little initiative and put off a heavy attitude of really not wanting to be there or check us in. Bare minimum interaction. So to me, it wasn't up to par with what I have come to know to be expected from a Quality Inn hotel and the value we paid for. We know they repurpose & renovate old hotels, but this one needed some serious TLC. I want my family and I to feel taken care of, not feel like they are in a dirty ran down hotel. I pay a little higher price to book a hotel I can trust to be well maintained and I did not get that this time. The whole experience was lacking. Some good points were the daytime staff seemed short staffed, but worked at a quick pace trying to cover the front desk & keep up with stocking up breakfast. The parking lot was well lit with plenty of parking. I checked the sheets/bedding, they seemed to be clean. The bathroom had a run-down look & needed updated but seemed to be clean with Clean towels. Pillows were kind of lumpy but clean. The furniture had an updated look and the location was convenient with a Walmart, Safeway plaza & an entrance ramp to the I-40 near the hotel. We had an amazing day kayaking at Clear Creek reservoir and eating at the flat bed Ford Cafe. The standing on a corner experience was cool with lots of nearby places to shop & eat. The 9/11 memorial was humbling with actual beams from the twin towers rt there. The la posada hotel, dining room & grounds were gorgeous. La posada dinner menu was so flavorful! Great chef! We drove to a few historic route 66 locations nearby, which was so neat to see them in person. The petrified wood was a cool natural phenomenon to see. The railroad history of the town was so interesting to learn about. Lots of classic cars to see. Overall, a good trip. Just wish our the hotel was better kept up and showcased or promoted some of the nearby...
Read moreOur experience with this property was awful from the beginning. As we arrived and I went inside to check-in, the front desk lady was less than thrilled to have her job.
There were two couples in front of me checking in. As the last couple checked in and walked away, I approached the desk to check-in. She held up her finger and said, "one minute." She then picked up the phone and started talking to whom I believe was her manager. They started talking about a dissatisfied guest, the encounter they had, & what they were going to do about it. The conversation went on with me just standing there for about 4 minutes. When she hung up, she never apologized. She looked at me, blew her breath, and said, "name?"
From there we went into our non-smoking room to check it out. We opened the door to our non-smoking room and the smell of smoke about knocked us over! The bedspread looked like it had previously been sat on or laid on as it was wrinkled. About 1 inch of carpet around the baseboards were white with dust. The sink was stained, dirty, and cracked in numerous places. The toilet was stained and looked dirty. The bathroom floor had numerous unmentionable hairs. Last but not least, there was a used, moldy coffee filter sitting open in the coffee pot. All of this was disgusting to say the least.
It was late and we were traveling so I wanted the kids to swim and wind down. My wife was going to take them and I was going to the front to address the problems. Well, I didn't need to because as soon as we got to the pool, some creepy guy stood there and stared at us, watching every move. I was about to say something when the front desk lady sprinted from the front desk, down the hall, and around the corner to tell us that we couldn't swim because we had too many people in our party. For her to catch us like that and to even know we were heading to the pool, she had to be spying on us from her cameras.
We had 8 in our party. 4 of us were staying at this hotel & 4 at another hotel because of a miscommunication. In front of everyone watching she then asks us, "Are all of these people with you in your room?"
I said, "No. Four of them are staying at another hotel down the road."
She then says, "Oh really, which one?"
I asked her, "Why is that any of your concern?"
She said, "Does the other hotel not have a pool that you can swim in?"
I said, "Yes, but we wanted to swim in yours."
She said, "You can't swim here for liability reasons."
I told her how rude, ridiculous, & unprofessional she was being. I then told her that the room was not clean and I wanted to show her the problems in the room so we could get another one. She then says, "I'm sorry to hear that," and walked away back to the front desk.
I went to my room, gathered up my stuff, and went to the front desk to check out. I told her that I needed a refund put back on my card. She told me mockingly, "Since you paid online there is nothing we can do to get your money back. Sorry."
I couldn't believe what just happened. I have never had a customer service experience this awful in my...
Read moreWhen you first walk into the hotel, the stench of sewage hits you like a ton of bricks. The front desk agent was very condescending when telling me that next time I book two rooms, me and my guest have to check in at the same time. My sister arrived 10 minutes before me. Not a lot of time and not a problem if she had to wait for me. Then, my room was disgustingly dirty. Dust accumulated around the perimeter of the room. I guess their vacuum can't reach it? Then the bathroom was horrendous! Lip liner pencil shavings on the floor, paint chipping everywhere, mold in the shower and my husband and I are pretty sure there was blood on the outside of the bathroom door. The AC sounded like it was a jet rattling and taking off the entire time it was on. Our room already had an odd smell to it but the longer we kept the AC on, the weirder our room smelled. Then my sister's room smelled like urine as soon as you walked in! We asked the front desk to change her room so they gave her the option of two different ones. Both smelled like urine but we had just driven 13 hours so we didn't want to pack up and drive another hour to another hotel. We had first floor rooms and one of the locks on her window didn't work and it looked like someone had tried to take the screen off before because it was bent. The neighborhood is super sketchy and potentially dangerous if you're by yourself. The front desk agent also talked with another guest about how much she hates living in that town of Winslow, AZ where she works. They also called my sister in her new room to ask her if she used any towels in her first room so they could change them out. My sister couldn't remember but they asked her if she could try and remember so they don't have to change out both. I don't understand why they couldn't just change both towels instead of calling her three times about it. It makes me question if they actually change all the towrls and linens in between guests. I highly suggest steering clear of this town and Quity Inn because there is definitely NO 'Quality' here. Spend the extra money and stay...
