Don't usually stay at the Econo Lodge, but it was that or keep driving thru heavy rain after 10 hours of driving. Hotels in Flagstaff were very scarce and expensive. Motel 6 was over $200. We preferred not spending that much. I hadn't realized Flagstaff was such a tourist spot. Understand it was because it is near Grand Canyon. We were told to drive 30 miles down the road so had to go on to Winslow as Holbrook AZ was further than we felt like driving. As it was do late we didn't realize they were having the "Standing On the Corner" annual festival in Winslow and rooms were scarce. We pulled in and the woman at the desk would not give any of the usual discounts (AARP, AAA, etc.) and was not very friendly. The man ahead of us was trying to check in and it took such a long time . We got a room and by this time there were about 30 people trying to get a room. The rooms were terrible. If we could have found a room elsewhere we would have left. It was so bad I pulled the sheets back (They looked clean, but stained) to check the mattresses, BIG MISTAKE, but at least no critters but the mattresses were unbelievably stained. The pillows looked clean inside and the bathroom had mildew/mold on the walls and the walls had grease or some kind of black hand marks on it. The doors needed some Mr. Clean. The floors looked filthy. WORST PLACE I HAVE EVER STAYED. No towels and had to hunt some down someone to get us some. I wonder if all the rooms looked like ours? This is the first time I have ever had to leave such a bad review any where much less at one of the Choice Hotels chain. We were not able to get a receipt that night. It was a miserable night and we did not get much rest.. The next morning we tried to get a receipt. After waiting for about 15 minutes the customer from the night before had been trying to get his receipt and finally said he needed to get his luggage. He still had no receipt. Don't know if he ever did get it printed. I finally got my turn and stood there quite awhile waiting for her to print it. She didn't say anything just sat there. Maybe she didn't know her job or the internet was down, regardless she never did say anything. I told her that she would have to email it and gave her the email address and then asked if she could at least write the amount charged on a piece of company paper so I would have that information. UPDATE: When we arrived back at home several days later I checked my credit card account and found that I had been charged for the day we left. I tried to call them, but their phone number was no longer working. Finally, I called Choice Hotels Customer Service and explained the overcharge. They put me on hold while they tried to reach the hotel with the same results. She apologized and checked the charges on their web I guess. Any way she somehow was able to talk to someone at the hotel and they apologized and said it would be corrected in about t to 10 days. UPDATE: Problem solved and the correction has been made to my account. Thank you...
Read more9-21-2020 Winslow Arizona Econo Lodge Or the “Motel Hell” I had enough Expedia points so I was able to get a “deal” on a room at the Econolodge for 20 dollars and 19 cents. I didn’t want or expect anything all that fancy for the price and its really almost not worth it. Half the lights don’t work and they don’t have replacement bulbs, that’s what the guy said and I’m thinking honestly? Light bulbs aren’t all that scarce of a commodity go buy some. Half the outlets in the room don’t work, I had to move the coffee maker into the bathroom to find a functional outlet, makes me wonder why they don’t work and I’m hoping I don’t die in a hotel fire tonight. They don’t have coffee in the lobby cause of the covid so I decided to make some in the little pot in the room. After I found an outlet that worked (see above) to plug it into. It is trying really hard to make coffee from the sounds it’s making but so far (20 minutes) it’s made one cup and a lot of noise. The tv is tiny and you have to manually change the volume and turn it off and on because it’s not compatible with the cable box but you can change channels with the remote... Oh whoopee doo . One plus was the toilet did actually flush but I was wondering there for a minute, it got close to the top of the bowl before it went down and I’m not even getting near the shower because the tubs dirty and in keeping with the condition of everything else I can envision a sudden loss of hot water midway thru the shower and the water pressure is really below pathetic, kinda like a trickle. The room is fairly “emphasis on the fairly” clean but far from spotless, lots of little pieces of what might be toilet paper on the floor and I think some toenail clippings. As a bonus the mini fridge was full of some pretty smelly leftovers, just how long they were leftover is anybody’s guess. Nasty. And even though there is a picture of a microwave in the room photos there is no microwave. The glass in my window is cracked and the screens been pried off but as the desk clerk told me it’s double paned glass and ONLY ONE pane is broken..... and it was unlatched. I’m sleeping with a pistol under my pillow tonight. I turned on the air conditioner and it sounds a lot like a drowning tuberculosis patient but it is actually managing to blow some cold air, it says 60° on the thermostat but it feels more like 75°. I’m taking a lot of comfort in the fact that my bikes insured and I locked everything on it. Not a great neighborhood. All in all I’m really regretting having spent the 20 bucks and if I didn’t think it would turn into a fiasco I’d ask for my money back and go someplace else. I am really looking forward to leaving this stellar review after I check out in the morning. I’m hoping that I don’t get bed bugs and no I will never stay in this dump again. Not...
Read moreMy husband and I booked a stay here. As we arrived the place looked nice. So we proceed to go inside. Just outside the entrance door there was this Mexican lady on her cell phone talking loudly to where everyone could hear her conversation. So we go in and there is a guy in front of us. So we wait then 2 more ppl came in to check in. This lady was the front desk lady and (this kills me to say this) she comes in to the lobby tells all of us exhausted customers she will be back in, in 5 mins. And then goes back outside to talk on the phone. Now here come 2 more ppl and then 2 more ppl and then the lobby had about 10 ppl inside waiting for this lady to get off the phone. If I was the boss and saw a lobby full of customers and my front desk lady is outside on her phone.....she would've been fired on the spot. After about 7 mins this lady comes back inside as we all stand there staring at her and she helps the guy in front of us. Then we were next. I give her my ID and then she proceeds to pick up her cell phone again and text someone instead of checking us in. I was so upset. So after checking in we go and park. As we walk into the entrance we discover this hotel is under full renovation. No signs that say ease excuse our mess nothing. It was dust and filthy. So we go to our room open the door and the whole room is coved in drywall and paint all over the floor. On top of it all inside the bathroom my husband went to take a shower and pulled the handle for the shower and the whole unit inside the wall moved. The bathroom shower curtain was not put on correctly so the shower curtain didn't close properly getting water all over the floor. You couldn't even walk bare foot inside this room. There was a half ripped screen on our window so we couldn't open the window. And after we checked out the next day the girl upfront didn't even ask how our stay was. We said we were checking out and that was it from her. This place should be closed during renovations cuz the rooms are filthy. People who are sensitive to that stuff can have breathing problems or get sick. And on top of the poor customer service as u walk down the long hallway on the first floor look up at the ceiling.....it looks like waves. Ceiling tiles broken it looked like a hotel from a scary movie. So if the hotel reads this. June 5th you had a young Mexican lady working you should fire her. And get yourself staff that will actually do their job not talk on the phone outside and tell customers she ll be in, in 5 mins. I don't care what u got going on that is a business and your there to do your job. Personal life stuff should be dealt with after work. Very poor customer service and...
