Valenio Coffee Roastery — Local services in Municipality of Thessaloniki

I found this place reading an Aegean Airline magazine featuring local business in Thessaloniki. The write up spoke of this amazing roasters where Valenio himself does a lot of coffee experiments and education. it didn't mention in the article that it was not open to the public and only for professionals.

Husband is a coffee lover so I thought this would be a great experience beyond just getting a cup of coffee. However, I did not know when we went to visit it was not open to the public. So, we walked up to the front door where we ran into someone coming out. He told us, " roaster not coffee shop." We nodded and said okay, but to us we thought it was like a factory tour or one of those where we could experience the making of, so when the guy left we poked our head through the window and tried the door and let ourselves in.

A guy greeted us (who we would later be introduced as Valenio's brother) and once again tried to figure out what we were doing there and we just kept asking questions about their beans and coffee questions. After a little bit, likely also seeing we were not going to leave, Valenio came out and introduced himself.

Valenio graciously explained to us that this is not a open to the public shop and that they were having issues with their water that day so, they were definitely not in any position to serve us anything. We explained that it was okay and we just wanted to maybe get some beans and as we asked questions he opened up and was extremely hospitable.

Valenio could of told us to please leave but, he was SUPER gracious answered our questions, let us smell the beans and even treated us to the most amazing cold brew I've ever had in my life. Valenio and his brother were generous and hospitable even though we just invited ourselves into his space.

We are super grateful for the education he gave us and even more grateful he took the time to accommodate us even though we were clearly in his way and not suppose to be there.
