Coorg Zoom Bikes — Local services in Karnataka

We were given a scooty with barely working brakes (had to press both hard to make do, even at slow speeds), and headlights in a barely working condition (no high beam, dim low beam). Extremely dangerous to ride in the dark with these, as we realized later - We ended up bumping a car from behind due to the poor brakes, causing a minor dent. Next day we went to return the scooty, and the men here started shouting at me and my partner in a rude manner, demanding more money (mind you, the scooty was returned in a day, while we paid 1400 for 2 days and 500 deposit which they refused to refund). Their guy did some namesake test drive and claimed brakes were fine, and asked us to get it checked by a mechanic. We agreed, and then they got even more aggressive. A guy named Saadique in particular spoke in a threatening way to my partner, and we ended up shouting back to keep them in check. Left in the end without getting any refund for the poor condition scooty which they delivered.

Horrible experience overall - if you care for your safety avoid renting anything from here.

Update (31/03/25): replying to the response below- However, we would like to clarify that we provided you with a BS6 model, which is a new vehicle and in good condition at the time of rental.

The Fascino BS6 was launched in Dec 2019, more than 5 years back - it is definitely not a 'new' model. Also the model itself is irrelevant to the discussion - one needs to service a vehicle regularly to make sure brakes and headlights are in an acceptable working condition. Here they were clearly not, as I pointed out in my review. The number of scratches on the vehicle also showed how much it had been used already, I have a video in case you are still confused.

Your team clearly did not in this case - are you even reading what I've written? The brakes were barely functional & high beam was not working at all. It is clear that the vehicle was NOT maintained.

If there were any concerns with the brakes or headlights, we wish they had been brought to our attention earlier so we could have assisted you immediately.

We realized the brakes thing early on, but had plans which we had paid for already - we decided we'd manage with the weak brakes (given we were in a rush), but the headlight thing was found at night, compounding the issue. We came to return next day morning right after breakfast (despite having paid for 2 days). Now, do you expect customer will abandon their schedule & plans, to return vehicle to you at night (which was 30mins from hotel, never mind that it was unsafe to ride at night)? Or that we would wait in the middle of ghat waiting for you to pick us up, assuming you'd even pick up the call? We had our hotel folks that thankfully arrived for assistance at night, so why would we rely on you folks, who already proved unreliable before? Also how does it matter when we came back - even next day you refused to accept the fault when pointed out, right?

Regarding the deposit, our policies are clearly communicated at the time of rental. Oh, your policies? Your policies also promised a scooty in a good working condition, did that hold? You can't selectively choose which part of your policy gets applied & which does not. If you do not provide the service as promised, you should refund the amount charged - any respectable business would.

I also like how you completely ignored the part where you (esp Saadique) were shouting & threatening me and my partner. Is that how you 'strive to provide the best service', by intimidating...

Best place to rent any two wheeler in Coorg. We ranted a scooty from fascino company. The condition of the scooty was very good. All function were also working very amazing. Scooty paper work is all done. Zoom bike charge 600 for a day of one scooty. Or if the scooty falls or get damage due to your fault they will charge extra. Charge is also based on the which company vehicle you took. You will have to pay for patrol with your own money. And if you go on weekends then be ready for rush and waiting in the line. So for coorge you should choose normal weekdays not weekend according to my experience. Cause without any personal vehicle you can't enjoy the whole coorge scenery. Cause the local rickshaw and jeeps there charges lot for going anywhere. And the best thing if you wanted to go mandalpatti peak one of the best point in coorge you should contact zoom bike. They can reach you in the right price. Cause other will charge you more. Because those who have local transport will tell you more price like 3 or...
