My First time visiting the VI outlet (familiar with Ikeja outlet) yesterday morning and I was disappointed with the restaurant service. We bought a plate of rice with chicken and also a plate of spaghetti with Chicken. I asked one of the ladies (cashier) to microwave the food, which I presume she did, only for us to get to the table to find a sparingly warm rice/spaghetti and a very cold chicken. It was as if the chicken came out of the fridge. I had to stand up, go back to the lady to ask her to heat up the food as we could not eat it like that Without remorse she took the food and said " but I warmed it before" and put them back in microwave. Few minutes I went back to the counter, she brought the two plates out and I took it back to our seats. As we were about to have our meal, (sigh) again one plate was steaming hot and the second plate was as cold as before (maybe she forgot to turn the switch). What a disruptive lunch. I quietly stood up went back to her to heat up food. The painful thing is that she took the plate with no apologies, no sign of remorse and a look like "you are bugging me". Me and my wife had to start eating the other food together while we waited for the other food to warm up. This time brought second plate her self and dropped it like she was serving a dog, without a word. As for the food, both the rice and spag was not bad in taste but the chicken although very large in size, was too salty that we could not finish it. My wife who loves chicken so much felt bad (for the first time she could not finish her chicken ) and decided to give feedback on our way out. She went to the counter and informed another lady that she really did not enjoy her meal because there was too much salt in the chicken and pointed to direction of our plates with more than half of the chicken left over. The lady just blankly gazed at my wife, without a word and continued what she was doing. Just it. We just had to leave and did not bother to shop anymore from the store. I am not the type that will flare up over poor service, I just don't visit again. Those guys at the restaurant needs...
Read moreOn Jan 27 I bought a whole chicken from Hubmart and asked that it be cut into pieces for me by the butchers - who were clearly doing nothing at the time. When I stopped by to pick it up I noticed that the whole chicken had lost some weight. It was wrapped in the same wrappings with the same price sticker. I asked him, are you sure this is mine. He insisted that it was and that every bit of my chicken was in that wrapping though it appeared small. I agreed and paid for it. Upon getting home there were about 7- 8 tiny pieces in total. Everything else was gone. So I vented on Twitter about this rip off and the next day, Hubmart apologized stating that they usually take out the bones for the customers. I responded but do you ask the customers first before you do that. Since the chicken is priced as weighed without the bones the price should be considerably cheaper but I still paid full price. He/she on social media promised that I would be replaced with a full chicken but these were the terms and conditions of the replacement: come on a week day and at least 3-5 hours heads up before your visit.
The customer was wronged and you feel that gives you room to negotiate the terms of the replacement. Once again let me emphasize that I paid full price for the chicken that was incomplete. I have chosen not to shop here again. I hope anyone reading this does the wise thing as well when shopping there.
On a side note, ever notice how their price points are always a bit higher on certain products compared to...
Read moreI cannot recall if I have reviewed this place before. However, it is a shadow of its erstwhile glorious self.
An almost empty parking lot where cars used to queue up to park, empty stalls, empty freezers, no air conditioning (a terrible experience in the searing tropical heat), empty check out points (only one visibly disgruntled staff processing payments), little activity generally.
Even the UNHCR canopy - where voluntary donations were solicited by ingratiating staff adept at profiling likely donors - which used to be in the compound, close to the entrance, is now gone.
It is glaring that this business location is on a precipitous downward spiral. Sad stuff for a property so well situated and an otherwise appealing brand. Hubmart.
The business is pretty much sustained mostly by the food section, which is operating at less than 50% capacity - with only one attendant where there used to be at least 4.
The degeneration was slow but sustained; now in a chronic stage where virtually all their customers have migrated to more functional supermarkets around.
Not recommended for shopping; only very limited food and fruit options are available…then some...
