I joined the Blue Mind retreat last weekend with Laurie. We were a group of 6 participants and such a great group of people. This was my first time in Crail and it is a perfect spot for yoga and retreating. Laurie was wholly welcoming from the moment I arrived. Laurie (&her family) welcomed us all into her beautiful home at the start of each day. Laurie was flexible with her schedule according to weather and kept us updated on any tweaks. The studio within Laurieās garden is a great space full of light with a supply of props etc (and a loo!) and looks onto the landscaped garden. We went on a different coastal walk each day and I particularly enjoyed how Laurie incorporated the surroundings into the teaching. Yoga was either in the studio or on the beach and included sea swim or paddling - Laurie also supported me greatly in the sea to enjoy it as I canāt swim and am a beginner learner. Laurieās yoga and meditation teaching was of great value to me and it is obvious how much attention Laurie has given to preparing for sessions. Lunch is provided both days on this retreat and the food is outstanding- fresh local produce. . Again Laurie puts her heart into the menu on offer and this is served in the kitchen of her home - everyone enjoyed every course. I also joined the beach yoga class on Sunday morning. Again this was a great practice with the sound of the waves and luckily for us with the sun on our faces. I left my weekend feeling nourished in many ways and with insights to help me understand myself more. I highly recommend Laurieās classes and retreat. Iāve booked to return. Canāt wait!
The Islay Insight Beach Yoga & Wild swimming retreat was a perfect mix of all these things. Days started with morning salutations on the pier or beach followed by DIY breakfast in our superbly appointed beachside cottage. We then went exploring the island with Laurie as our expert guide giving us an insight into life on Islay that only an island family member can. She took us to hidden beaches and on woodland walks where we stopped to consider life's rich wonders and our place in it. Yoga on the beaches of Islay added the extra dimension of being in the place and hearing where sea meets land. It was these feelings of ebb and flow; retreat and expand that Laurie fostered over the weekend. Swimming in the calm (and not so calm) cool waters added to the experience; built our confidence and stretched our horizons. Beach yoga, sea swims, mediation, walking alongside each other, eating together and reflecting in small groups. The weekend was perfectly balanced. The sun shone on us all and I expect each of our lives will have been touched and changed, in some way, by our experiences. I'm already thinking about a return visit.
Embodied Artland Retreat. Just back from a weekend at Jupiter Cartland hosted by the wonderful Laurie and what an experience. I arrived feeling extremely fatigued and in need of rest and relaxation; this is most definitely what I received. Laura exudes passion and appreciated for life and it's infectious. Her style of teaching yoga is like no other that I have experienced. She facilitates a very safe environment for you to explore movement, nurture your inner child and find the joy in everything. Laurie's meditation sessions are restorative and were on of the many highlights of this retreat. We explored the contradictions in everything, including ourselves and it was thought provoking. The company was wonderful and the setting was very special but the most important ingredient was Laurie herself. I cannot recommend Laurie and her teachings enough!
