Wow.. what a horrible experience from the incredibly rude staff & owner. This is supposed to be a shop selling all local artist pieces and the staff was annoyed when we asked who the piece we wanted to buy was made by, furthermore when we asked for it to be properly wrapped and protected (entire glass piece priced over $200) the owner came out to give a dissertation on cardboard boxes for the item and that it would be fine. We have been residents for 3 generations and over 30 years of all artists and respect art. We asked for additional protection from the cardboard box because it is too delicate, they came out with a single sheet of bubble wrap was all they would use and they don’t even a “gift” box. Next time we will be purchasing a much larger piece directly from the artist so that they will receive the proper portion and receive better service. We will not ever be giving this place business again. You’re better off at the ice house or Heath gallery where the staff is...

I can’t say too much about the actual merchandise, but we booked one of the 10:00 castle tours during the Apple Butter Festival.

When we arrived at the shop around 9:30 to pick up our tickets, the shop was closed, and the sign said that they didn’t open until 10:00. The other tourists were just as confused as I was. We were wondering how on earth we were supposed to get to the castle by 10:00 with our tickets, if the shop didn’t even open until 10:00.

After a few minutes, a lady came down into the shop and turned the lights on. I knocked on the door, she rudely put her finger up for me to wait, I came in when she finally opened the door to nicely explain that myself as well (as the others) were confused and hoping to quickly obtained our pre-purchased tickets. Great spot for great American made goods. Looking to decorate? I would recommend a visit to Mountain Laurel Artisans. The sauces and canned good were mighty fine. The jewelry is beautiful. I bought a nice American made puzzle for my mother for Christmas. I bought for my brother, the perfect gift, a little metal sculpture. I need to be sure to get back to beautiful Berkeley Springs before Christmas to finish my holiday shopping.
