This is the IF I COULD GIVE 100 STARS, I WOULD.
I walked into GameStop expecting to browse for 10 minutes. I walked out nearly two hours later... a changed man. Why? One word. GAVIN.
GAVIN is not just an employee. No. Gavin is a legend. A gaming oracle. A pixel-powered machine. The moment we locked eyes across the store, I could feel it: destiny. We talked for what felt like minutes, but the clock told a different storyāwe conversed for HOURS. This wasnāt just small talk. No, this was deep lore, multiverse-tier dialogue that would make even Kratos pause his rage and say, āYo, this dude knows his stuff.ā
We talked Elden Ring bosses, obscure GameCube imports, retro PokĆ©mon trivia, and somehow ended up in a full breakdown of the Metal Gear timelineāwhich, letās be real, should be impossible without a PhD. But Gavin? Gavin made it make sense.
He didnāt just help me pick out a game. He read my soul like a dialogue tree. He knew what I needed before I even said it. I came in for a controller and left with a copy of Baldurās Gate 3, a preorder for something I didnāt even know existed, and a deep, philosophical understanding of why Tears of the Kingdom is a masterpiece.
By the end of our conversation, I didnāt feel like a customerāI felt like a fellow adventurer. Gavin isnāt just a sales associate. He is the final boss of GameStop employees, except instead of fighting him, you team up and slay dragons together.
If thereās a Mount Rushmore for retail workers, Gavinās face is carved on it in glorious 16-bit resolution.
Give this man a raise. A throne. A franchise. A sword forged from old Xbox Live discs. I am not joking when I say: Gavin changed my life.
I will be back. Not for the deals, not for the...
Ā Ā Ā Read morePurchased a new set of headphones, it was discounted. Questioned the employee about return policy once we noticed the box had been opened. The employee said 30 days unopened. My reply the box has already been opened, an fresh tape applied, if we get it home an itās damaged an bring it immediately back what is your policy? The employee (manager or what ever his position) said unopened 30 days. Once again I questioned him, this box has been resealed, we donāt know the condition, damage or not, if damaged will you take it back? His reply was I know itās good, I am the one that sealed it back up. My reply is you are quarantining that it is not damaged. His reply is I know itās not damaged. My reply was then, since you are guaranteeing itās not damaged you should not have a problem with us bringing it back if when we get home, try it out, an it is damaged us returning it. This employee got mad, very irate, an said I will guarantee it! But I aināt going through this anymore. Now understand this item was already purchased, before we noticed the tape where it had been resealed. The other folks in the store were shocked at his behavior, as was I when asking a legitimate question about a $150 purchase of an item they had resealed. As I got ready to leave I politely informed the employee that if something is wrong with the item I will be back, an we will continue this discussion. Fortunately the item did work fine, but when we opened the box it looked as it had been gone through. Instructions were wrinkled, definitely questionable on their ethics. Definitely will not use this store again, an if all GameStop have this only unopened policy, will not be using...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWhat rude customer service. I called at 8:25pm and inquired about the value of my PS4 in order to trade it in for a PS4 Pro. Scott, who I spoke with told me to bring in my PS4. At any point during our phone conversation did he mention to bring the HDMI cable. I drive up to the store and arrive at 8:47pm. I live about 5 minites from the store. I walked in and the first thing he tells me is that I need an HDMI cable and that I hung up on him before he can tell me to bring it with me. Are you kidding me?!?!? I told him, I live 5min away and I would be right back. He tells me there is nothing he can do and that he is closing up. Does Gamestop not care about customer ma who have been shopping at their stores since they were kids? The sarcasm and attitude from Scott needs to be adjusted by upper management in how he should treat customers. An appology from him pointing out that it was his fault for not notifying me (the customer) of pertinent information relating to a trade is UNACCEPTABLE. Scottās manager should be reprimanded for allowing him to strutt around the store in sarcasm and serious lack of professionalsm. When I asked for his managerās name, he seemed very assure that management would take his side. I have been a customer of Gamestop aince I was a kid. Today is the last day I purchase anything from Gamestop. Iām also cancelling my membership. Now I understamd why Amazon and these other online retailers are winning. Iām going to make it a life long mission to steer any gamer away...
