The Corvallis OR store needs a new manager. We waited on line for over 3 hours PAST the game release for zelda. Because the store manager decided to start a raffle at 9:15pm with two lines going separate ways down the block. He sent some associate out to survey the crowd asking if we preordered and if we wanted a chance to get the special edition. This caused a hold up for 1.5 hours, followed by the store manager selling copies to people and saying he may not be able to fulfill pre-orders, he also stated that he ran out of the pre-order bonus plaques because he was giving them away to people who were just buying, and promised them to his associates, who come first. The store manager used this opportunity to act like a used car salesman and try to not only upsell zelda things, but anything in the store that he felt people needed. I witnessed him take multiple people to multiple products and explain the reasons they would need said product, instead of moving the lines forward so people could get their preorders. I along with the people of corvallis OR are disgusted by this clown, he is the biggest joke of gamestop.
I know it's hard, especially large scale pre-order events, but to have a store manager literally not pre-ring people up, try to upsell, and then admit to almost running out of product and pre-order bonuses because of their incompetence, its embarrassing. Not to mention if we have to hear him argue with anybody else, about why elden ring is better than zelda I'm sure someone will buy all the copies of elden ring just to destroy them. Chris is in the wrong profession, he does not belong in gamestop, he is under qualified, not professional and cannot see past his own clouded judgment to understand the needs of his associates, customer base, or anyone beyond himself.

Read moreOh where do I begin. From time to time GameStop has either given me a good deal or overcharged me unnecessarily, but it's retail right? It happens. Today I was selling my unwanted console. The guy helping me was unknowledgeable with their inventory, system, and the little tricks to making stuff go easier for a customer. After having to dig for the receipt on the controller I was selling back with the console that I recently purchased because it didn't show in the system but it did send me an email after I purchased it 🙄 I let him know I was fustrated on how he was handling it. And I guess he thought we were cool like that because he got huffy, started complaining about his feelings, accused me of being difficult, THEN mentioned he was new at the return system stuff (maybe should've said something earlier!!)and refused service to me. Luckily his coworker saw that not once had I raised my voice, used any profanity, or showed the typical hostile mannerisms that would warrant refusal. So hey GameStop, either train people to be able to do stuff before allowing them to do stuff, or at least hire people who understand retail. Because THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT. You do whatever within reason to keep their business. And I have a big mouth, don't think I just only wrote this review. I've called and texted and will talk about this. I'll be going to local places and supporting the small business from now on. And I'll be encouraging others...
Read moreFirst off, a little background: Gamestop will never, ever get 5 stars from me. I'm philosophically opposed to their business model. I have no issue with capitalism; I have an issue with a company in the gaming industry creating a monopoly through attrition, not to mention even knowing what got them there in the first place. Does anyone at Gamestop even know who Nolan Bushnell is without using a phone?
It's kind of like reviewing an abortion clinic. Even if you get the best service of all time, it's still an abortion clinic.
Onto the actual shop. I walked in with my son and a high dollar gift card that a good friend generously gave to me. Normally I wouldn't even go to Gamestop. I was surprised to see the store in order, clean, and staffed. I actually found a really neat item that I'll give as a Mother's Day gift. We got to the counter and were promptly & accurately helped with our purchase and pre-order. We weren't upsold to anything; we didnt get a spiel. Very nice change of pace from past experiences at different Gamestops. Happy with the visit today.
