I was in the area of North west Indiana on 11-13-19 around 8 pm. First we were not greeted when we entered the store. We were looked at like We were from out of space. Those 2 lady cashiers were looking at us like we were there too stick up the place. Now the only friendly people were the 2 ladies in the deli. The younger lady who sliced the meat was extremely nice. She was so patient and went above and beneath to make sure I was satisfied. Now the older lady once we broke the ice with her, She finally communicates. Oh my!!! The cashier his name was Daniel he was the icing on the cake!!đ just plain nonchalant. First he asked me do I want paper or plastic first off I said it doesn't matter. Then I CHANGED my mine. Do u know he stopped and gave me such a stare until I said I'm sorry. (As too say make up you mine) next he was just so unfriendly and bothered. I tried breaking the ice with him. But nothing I said or did put a smile on his face. He never asked if we needed help to the car. (I had purchased a large bag of rock salt) I had too ask him to put the salt in the cart. After the transaction was finished we said have a nice night. He said UNHUN and turned around and start writing something on a piece of paper!! Then I said too my friend did you hear the response from him!?! I guess he heard me. Then in such a low voice he said you also. I love Walt's I'm well known in the Walt's in south holland. Walt's is one of my first choices of grocery shopping. I don't want to pull the RACE CARD, out but we felt like misfits. I'm thinking maybe they don't see to many African americans in the area. They definitely need some more...
Read moreBakery Dept. is fantastic! Their coffee cakes, donuts, rolls, breads, birthday cakes, pies and everything else they bake is wonderful! The Deli Dept. is the same way. Salads are made fresh by their staff. If you would like to taste a particular salad before purchasing just ask the clerk and they will offer you a sample of your selection. The lunch meat/cheese is kept very appealing to the eye with a wide variety of name brand products to tempt you to choose from. Finally, there is a hot menu for you to select a hot dinner from if your in a hurry to feed the family. Rotisserie chicken is available every evening, but the menu changes depending on the day. The Butcher Shop reminds me of the old, fashioned, fresh, independent butcher store. The friendly butcher ready and willing to cut the meat your way. Plus, if you prefer to go to the meat counter, Walt's has an excellent full counter for you to select from. This store does have a complete line of canned goods, water, assortment of cookies, salad dressings, coffees, teas, soups, spaghetti sauces, pasta varieties, sodas, chili beans, canned vegetables, applesauce, canned fruit, jello, puddings, coffeemate, paper products, soaps, dish detergents, cake mixes, brownie mixes, freezer items, dairy items, and...
Read moreALL the workers were very rude and uncaring about everything. The guy collecting and fixing baskets stood and watched while I struggled to get use of an electric cart. The shelves in dairy were virtually empty, the lady who did my checkout, bagged my heavy 8 items that I struggled to lift on the grocery belt, then just pushed them to the side and started checking out next person. I struggled to get the bags into my cart, rode out to my car, pushed the button on my lift gate and painfully struggled to put my items in the car while the basket guy stood and watched waiting for me to be done with my cart. Not one single person through my whole trip to the store offered to lend a hand at all. I'm so sick of the people in our country being so pathetic that they can't even find it in their being to at least be kind. Won't be going back to Walt's. Would give a...
