I have been doing business with town square jewelers since 2017. They did a custom wedding ring for myself and I even had my daughter’s fiancé get my daughter’s engagement ring and band custom designed with them as well. I have had a lot of things appraised through town square jewelers as well. I have always referred people to them and always loved their work and customer service. I drive an hour to do business with them. Yesterday, I went in with my daughter and we were having 4 rings appraised. I was told this was the best of the best appraiser. The appraiser gave the manager 2 out of the 4 ring appraisals back and I was shocked and floored because one of my rings was appraised $17,000 less than my last appraisal in January of 2020. This was a different appraiser from the last one town square jewelers had at the time of my other appraisals. I told the manager I was confused because I have an appraisal with me that stated $17,000 more. I was talking to the manager at the counter and the appraiser was in the office listening to my conversation. I never said anything bad about the appraiser, I clearly stated either the other appraiser or this appraiser doesn’t have a good eye because that’s a huge difference in appraisals. I showed the manager the previous appraisal and the appraiser was upset I did not disclose that information prior to his appraisal. I paid for the appraisal and do not have to show any past appraisals. Never expected the appraisal to be the exact same as the previous one, I just expected it in the same ball park. $17,000 less is not in the same ball park. I assume The appraiser never wanted to come out and explain why he appraised it less and told the manager since I had a problem with my appraisal he wouldn’t do anymore appraisals for me. He got the finished appraisal paperwork he did back from the manager and started ripping it up. My daughter still didn’t have her rings appraised and since she was associated with me he refused to do service with my daughter. It was very childish. Town square jewelers had no part in this besides the fact they allowed him to treat their loyal customers this way. My suggestion is the owner needs to have a conversation with his independent appraiser about his customer service skills to town square jewelers customers. As a business owner I would never let someone who was not employed by me or even employed by me run off my business. My question is why is your gemologist making calls that will and has impacted your business. I’m shocked at the way myself and my daughter was treated yesterday. I will take my business elsewhere to someone who appreciates me as a customer and does not let an outside source run their customers...
Read moreI thought long and hard about whether I should even take the time to do this review but having conversations with some others and family members, I decided to share my thoughts regarding my experience at this jewelry store. Being new in the area, moving from Florida, and purchasing a home in Fayetteville in few years ago. I was unaware of places where you could get jewelry repaired. However, when I walked into this store a couple of weeks ago. I asked the young lady.. did they do repair on jewelry ..at the same time, showing her my ring with emeralds and diamonds. Instead of a simple "No we do not" her initial response was "is it real?" After spending 40 years in healthcare, and the majority of those years in healthcare quality leadership and customer service experience, I found her response to be offensive, based upon the concept of "first impressions". My first impression of the statement indicated a perception of bias. Would you ask any customer that question, or is it because maybe that I was an African-American female who had walked into a prominent jewelry store??? with possible fake jewelry asking about repairs....A piece of jewelry that was definitely authentic and that I purchased in Germany some years ago. Thankfully, I did more research and was able to find Regals Jewelry, a half a mile away who was able to meet my needs. I suggest maybe considering coaching staff on use of "key words" when greeting first time customers or any customer that does not give the perception of biases. Of course, that's only if a diverse customer base is an integral part of your values. In that dollars have value despite the color of one's skin. I would choose to sum this up as immaturity based upon some of the staff...
Read moreI'm not here to debate moissanite vs diamond but its clear this place, like many other jewelers, don't care to help a paying customer if your stone isn't a diamond. My wedding ring stone popped out of it's setting after I caught my hand in a door. After reading a lot of good reviews about this place and seeing they offered repairs, I walked in feeling confident they'd be able to help. I've had my ring for many years without incident and the stone only fell out of its setting because I stupidly used my ring hand to catch myself in the door. I was immediately greeted when I walked in (hence the 2 stars) and explained what happened. The associate took my ring back to the repair person and after awhile came back up and said the repair guy not only was uncomfortable with resetting my stone but if he did, it'd be $400. LOL what?! just be honest and say you don't want to do it instead of spouting off a ridiculous number to make me go away. My birthday is soon and I wanted to have my ring fixed in time so I can wear it. With that being said, I've contacted the company who made my ring and they quoted me $65 to reset the stone. While I won't have my ring in time for my birthday, at least my ring will be taken care of with actual care and reasonable, sane pricing. I certainly won't come back here when I'm ready to find a complementary band for my ring even though they do have a lot of pretty jewelry in their...
