Most recent town hall very informative. Customer experience heavily emphasized, yet at the Olathe location- message not received and it starts at the top (the manager).
I’ve been participating in the auctions (all locations, multiple times a week since November). I have spent time, energy, and thousands. Yes, I could go get my own pallet through another seller and not mess with the auctions at all, but I do enjoy bidding and getting to know the community.
All of the locations (except Olathe), have been consistently kind, courteous, and attentive with my large 20+ orders and occasional returns (multiple times weekly).
Olathe has been the outlier. Unfortunately, Olathe is the closest to my home and has the most items.
I have heard the manager quite literally huff and puff her way around the store, complain/trash talk customers behind their backs or when they have left the store. She has judged my purchases and has disrespectfully made comments under her breath. I have looked the other way for the most part and have kept my mouth shut. Until today.
Today I was picking up a large order. I had bid on and ONE of the items was not as described. I was told I could not return the item (30 dollars- whatever but it’s the principle) at that point I stated that I would like to just return it at another location (the next location I was going to (belton) to pick up yet another 19+ item batch, to which the employee checking me out stated:
“I will black ball you from all retail rebel locations”
I believe she meant blacklist??
To which I stated “I have spent a lot of time, energy, and once again THOUSANDS here in the past 10 weeks”
She responded.
“You don’t think we have a lot of resellers, we don’t care about your business.”
This was the first of MANY disrespectful and rude comments. This employee is quite close with the manager and they have bullied, berated, and used unprofessional etiquette in almost every way, in front of my eyes, toward me and others, for the past 10 weeks.
I then asked for assistance to my car, as the items were huge and heavy (I’m 110 pounds, not hulk), to which she replied “no one is here to help you”
Luckily, Lacy, the assistant manager who is kind, gregarious, and friendly PERSONALLY offered to help me load my car.
The treatment by this employee, who I will not name out of respect, was inappropriate and dare I say borders on the edge of harassment and discrimination…
Lastly, what bothers me more than the treatment of myself, is the way this employee spoke to an orienting employee to the auction side (which honestly needs all of the help it can get, long lines, etc). She berated her and humiliated her in front of the 25+ people in line. If you would like to reach out to me I can explain in further detail.
The toxic environment at Olathe, other than Lacy, and the guy who works ALONE on the auction side when the manager isn’t there (because she doesn’t adequately support her staff) is truly a disgrace to the retail rebel culture that I have personally witnessed multiple times a week at all of the other locations.
The few of us that are major MAJOR participants in the auctions multiple times a week (spending thousands) all concur, the manager and auction side staff at Olathe, other than the lone male and Lacy (assistant manager who quite literally saves the store), ruin the customer experience.
Need I mention the entire pallet lost last week (6 of my items) that were not refunded immediately, nor was I aware of the situation until showing up.
Or.
The woman who had an infant strapped to her chest who had stated that other locations helped her get her items/take them to her car, was told she would not be getting any...
Read moreI love this place so much! You're always going to find an awesome bargain no matter which day you go. As a single mum to 4 kids ( 3 between ages of 14 and 18) a dog, a cat, a lizard and multiple fish tanks, I'm always trying to save money where I can. Before I found this place I used to do tons of thrift store shopping. Multiple store-more gas- tons of time... but now I've found its5 and have gotten so much more! I've been to my store maybe 6 or 7 times and have really gotten great deals. I have yet to go on a Saturday and want to this weekend. As long as you don't mind picking through bins and putting in a little bit of work, you're going to love this place. Even the clothing side is awesome! I am a tall chick with big feet and there's always cute shoes in my size! One of my favorite finds is a long sleeve black shirt with the shoulders showing. When I wore it the first time, my daughter said 'wow!' I never felt so good from a piece of clothing! Another of my faves is an aquarium heater for my huge 65 gallon tank that I would have spent 50~ bucks on for 2.50$! I also love finding tons of body jewelry and ear buds! (Always losing those!) I would have spent so much more ANYWHERE else. Including online purchases. (Theyve got tons of xmas stuff out now too). You never know what you're going to find! It's just tons of fun! I always bring a pair of work gloves (and headphones to jam to my music) because there's sometimes broken glass around despite best efforts. Only wish they had a vending machine too! I get thirsty and don't want to leave. Also, I really wish they would consider donating any items they're tossing away to our local charities. Not everything I know. They could do so much good with it! But I understand... maybe in the future! Definitely worth your time. Plan to spend a couple hours. You won't be disappointed!...
Read moreHubby and I came here for the first time and after visiting two others (Belton/raymore, and Excelsior Springs) this was the biggest by far. It was a Saturday and it was insane! I got in line which was very long and when in the front door I was astonished at how large this place was! They ran out of Carr's, and so I was unable to carry as much stuff even with the bag that they gave me (gets heavy real fast) it was so packed, difficult to move around when you have a toddler. Went to the other side which I had to leave my items at the counter for them to hold until purchase because they were seperate. Now this other side was my dream place for buying clothes that are brand new. (Better than Burlington, which I love.) Now all clothing regardless of what day of the week sells for five dollars. I went with a limited amount of money on hand and couldn't choose which item of clothing I wanted so I decided on shoes. I love shoes even though I can't wear a lot of them (mostly heels) but I do resell them. So I purchased the shoes on this side and went to the other side to check out my other items that they were holding. The line was so long, it was too long for a cranky toddler, so I left with out the items I wanted. No big deal, I really came unprepared and to see what a Saturday looks like here. Think I will come an hour earlier to be first in line to get a cart and probably on a Friday when I can get 10 brand new items for $5.00!🎉 How amazing is that? This Franchise is my new favorite and really my...
