Dillard's — Local services in Oxford

WARNING! LONG POST! I have loved Dillards for yrs! But after visiting the Oxford Dillards last night, Feb 15, 2025, Never Again ! I only had 30 mins i could be in the store. I went straight in to the swim suit section to look for a bikini for my bahamas trip. I got an arm full bc thats what ive always done with no problem. I hate putting clothes on off on off in changing room. Again i was pressed for time. As i went into dressing room i was stopped. The lady wanted to count the pieces. I spacifically asked how many could i take back now ??? That they must have changed their rules ? She said “No . You can take back as many as you want . We just have to count.” Which was fine. I counted 14. My bad there was actually 17. I counted the bikini top & bottoms as 1. She said “the room is unlocked.” I go in take my clothes off then another woman beats on my door & says “ i can only have 3 & to give the clothes back !” I told her i was undressed!!! I cracked the door, gave her all but 4. Again bikini top & bottom as 1. 2 swim shorts. She pushed my door completely open. Come in counted the 4 i had hanging , as well as my purse & clothes on the floor which were mine! I didnt have clothes on !!! Shuts the door & commenced to talking trash about me with the other lady! I come out of the changing room looking for my next 3 & they were nowhere to be found!!! She had hung everything back on the racks! I was so disgusted & embarrassed that i just left. What i say next is just me venting ! I have come a long way in life. I am a councilor for mental health mostly for awareness & prevention of suicide. My fiancee whom gives me the world! Is a 2 time marine infantry vet. Hes an engineer & builds satellites for space for the past 20 yrs. If they paid attention then they saw me get in the drivers seat of my merecedes! IM NOT BRAGGING! Please understand that i have been stereotyped for yrs! Bc of my tattooes & probably my dreadlocks too. I love self expression! Its just sad that people judge you based on how you look. Id only been in the store 10 mins! Where do they get off thinking its ok to barge into my dressing room with me not dressed ?!?!?!!! I am livid!!!! If my fiancée had been there, that whole store would have known about it ! Dillards lost out on a good sale & now 2 customers. We will only be back to file a former complaint. . Awesome selection. New York style products at reasonable prices. Very friendly sales associates and professional employees. Best Dillards retail store I have shopped at. I will continue to shop there over any retail store in the city for the genuine customer service, high quality items, and clean, beautiful, elegant store environment that makes you feel like you are an important person, getting items to look and feel your best, for an important event or occasion, and you get a first class experience from the style, decor, and layout of the store. The personal care and attention from sales staff and management, to the quality and prices of the items you purchase, feeling like you left with all your wants and needs met, not leaving feeling like you were forced into what was just available, and your only contribution was to some big box cookie cutter retail stores billionaires bottom line profits while you struggle to have gas money to make it back home to your family. We were looking for a dress for my daughter. The theme is "Night at the Opera".

We were thrilled with the selection of dresses they had. The price range was wonderful as well. They had formal dresses starting at roughly $40+ (their clearance section alone offered a selection of dresses in a wide variety of color and styles from sequins to silk)

The woman running the area was very nice and offered assistance right away. At first we said no.... and Maggie made several trips to the dressing room. Each time the person running the dressing room was very polite and welcoming.

When we finally found the perfect dress, we found a slight flaw with the dress. The attendant promptly offered to order a new dress in her size, it was sent to our house, to save us another trip. She really was a charm to work with! We will definitely shop there for other formal wear as Maggie needs it!
