GameStop — Local services in Phoenix

Husband and I went to our local GameStop to trade in a broken Xbox for partial credit for some new games we wanted to by, after waiting in line for 40 minutes-we understand it's busy- we are told that without the controller to the Xbox they would not take the console . This was very upsetting for us because my husband was a GameStop employee who worked for the company for years and also knows the game stop policies, so for them to make up such a ridiculous policy out of thin air seem unkind towards us and makes me believe these employees are unknowledgeable about where they work. The manager , whose name I didn't get, said rudely they had worked for GameStop for six years and continued to spout on about how he would never do an exchange without the remote. I had bought a PS3 system used 6 days ago and started having issues with the controller. I purchased the year warranty on it and was happy to find an actual PS4 at first. I took the controller back today and texplained what was going on and that it keeps dying 20-30 minutes after charge up. The guy who was running the Gamestop handed me a business card for a nearby repair shop and said it's the best he could do. I said why should I have to pay for a repair on an item you sold me that doesn't work properly? He then stated that's the best he can do and it's policy, so do not purchase their 1 yr warranty. I have never had an issue with any of the gamestop's I've been to in the last couple of years that I've gone to gamestop. I've been going there since I was a kid and I've always had an amazing experience. I was sad to see the gamestop by my house go. But was happy when I got moved to Happy Valley gamestop. I was nervous at first but than ended up building two very good relationships with two of the workers that no longer work there named Larry and The old manager Jill. They were always so helpful. And I was sad that their not there anymore, but life works in mysterious ways and sometimes you only have people in your life for a short period of time.
