Heard this Winn Dixie was closing and apparently the bakery is ready to be done. I ordered a cake for my son yesterday and the young girl taking the order was nice and writing down what I told her. I showed her a cake they had (2 layer round with solid yellow rope border). I asked her if I could get one like that with a solid red border instead and use black gel to write Happy 21st Birthday (with my son's name). Simple, right? I asked to leave a little room at the top just so I could stand 2 cards on it to make blackjack (21, an ace and a jack). I picked up the cake today and it looks like it was decorated for the movie SAW. The bottom border wasn't even red, it was black. The older lady said "oh I could kinda hear you telling her what you wanted. My daughter had a doctor's appt...) and I stopped listening. I wasn't happy. She heard some colors and just went with what she wanted to do apparently. My son is special needs. I had him with me. Eve if I wanted to get upset, I couldn't. Not without it affecting him. The cashier at the checkout felt bad and gave me a $4 discount and we talked about how maybe I could fix it but I couldn't fix the cake. I'm not a decorator. My recommendation is to just let them close and don't request any SIMPLE cakes bc clearly it's too hard for them eveN with an example...
Read moreThe produce department is small so the selection is fairly limited. I often find moldy/rotten fruit and veggies sitting on the shelves. Today for example I found moldy peaches and soft wrinkled jalapenos. So if your looking for some fresh produce, maybe try somewhere else. This isn't just a one time occurrence either. I've been shopping here for 8 months and I see it regularly.
The other thing that seems to happen, to me at least, is being overcharged. Today I was charged twice for a package of sargento cheese. A beefsteak tomato was rung up as a Roma tomato, even though the two look completely different and it had a sticker on it identifying it as beefsteak. So today at least, because the beefsteak tomato was on sale, that mistake cost me double.
I guess I should pay better attention while the cashier is ringing me out. I've just never had these problems anywhere else. I don't have any complaints with the rest of the store, but if I can't get good produce with the rest of my groceries then I'm just not going to shop...
Read moreThe manager I saw seemed to be lazy and ran the other way to avoid dealing with a customer. When approached directly, he acted as if it was beneath him to render assistance. Between him and the older dark haired, glasses lady in the morning... they must have hired from the bottom of the barrel. Between no manager help, and the older lady who just wants to gossip with custoner who would rather not be held hostage to a cashier who just wants to gossip. I had much better things to do, but instead was subjected her rambling.... even then... she didnt even start scanning items. On the other hand... I could have went to the kids line.. you know the one... wants to scan every item as fast as they can, destroying your goods as they pile up in the bagging area. Wow.. great scanning stats... sucks to have to buy stuff crushed by speed racer. Stop hiring from the bottom value shelf, your prices would suggest you could afford ro pay for ...
