The good: The food is decent. Not “better than you can make at home by yourself” good, but still good. I got two orders of hibachi.
The bad: I asked for “so spicy it’ll hurt me”, and my food came out less spicy than a bag of Vickie’s kettle cooked jalapeño chips from Subway. Pricing. Prices are literally double what they should be for what you get. The portions are, well, backwards. They take a regular cookout-style to-go tray and put rice in the big portion, and then put vegetables in the two smaller portions with just a few pieces of protein on top. If you’re going to do that, it should be piled so high that the tray won’t close and has to be wrapped in a plastic bag and then taped to keep it from spilling. Otherwise, fill the big portion of the tray with 50% protein and 50% vegetables, and then the two smaller portions with rice.
The ugly: There are all kinds of “upcharges” just to get your food prepared the way it should be to begin with. Want your food to actually be seasoned with sauces? Upcharge (they call it “sauce your plate”). Want more than one lemon or more than one sauce? Upcharge and upcharge. Want more than just six individual pieces of protein? Upcharge. How about noodles with or instead of just rice? Upcharge. It looks absolutely nothing like what they advertise. The rice is so undercooked it’s crunchy.
The takeaway: This place is worth checking out just once if you’ve never been and happen to be driving by with more money than sense, but it’s not worth coming back to unless they quadruple their meat & vegetable portions, eliminate the upcharges, and cut their...
Read moreI went there today and the food was absolutely delicious. Well worth what I paid. The lady at the front was extremely nice and friendly throughout and the environment was very inviting.
I ordered the shrimp hibachi which came out to be $17.90. I've seen some negative reviews/comments about costs/taxing and thought I would break down my experience:
The shrimp hibachi plate by itself is $13.99, I got two extra sauces which are priced at $0.75 each, which totals to $15.49.
They charge two taxes, an 8% food tax and a 7.5% sales tax (15.5% in taxes), which amounted the final cost to $17.90. These tax rates are stated on their menu at the top so they are not "hidden." That may be a higher tax rate than many are used to, but taxes may vary between restaurants within the same town because they can choose to pay a portion of the taxes on their end. Many small businesses do not do this because they don't have the funds and "large business privilege" to do so.
I also used a card and was not charged an extra fee for doing so.
In my opinion, the portion was big enough for two meals (or to split), so I believe it's fully worth the price, even if it is more on the expensive side of things (and you are also supporting a...
Read moreMaybe mine was a fluke, but the only thing good about my food was the friendly staff when I picked it up.
I paid almost $60, of which about $15 was hidden fees, a fake tax (they charge two different taxes, which I haven’t seen at any other restaurant) and menu items costing more than advertised. They charged me for “extra sauce” on all my items, despite never asking for extra sauce. One item had an “sauce my plate” charge that I also didn't ask for. Everything was about 5% higher priced than what the menu said, which could just be them not updating their menu.
Then there is the taste. This stuff is clearly not made to order. Everything we ate had an obscene amount of sauce on it and it tasted like it had been under a heat lamp for hours. The fries were only slightly more edible than rocks and the meat tasted like they were tryin to rehydrate jerky with all the sauce.
I definitely do...
