DONT DO IT!! I have done the budget billing for the past couple years with this company. The first year they were great. I paid a small amount monthly and they filled my tank every month or every other month. Towards the end of that contract, they called me and told me that my price needed to go up. I had just gone out on disability and this was a change I really couldn't afford but had no choice...(despite having a price on a signed contract but whatever). I decided to go with Griffith again this year. Whoops...that was a mistake. Same thing. Budget billing. They originally sent me a quote for around $200 a month. I called them up and told them $200 wasnt happening. They settled on $150. I PAY $150 A MONTH. THEY LET 6 MONTHS GO BY AND WAIT FOR MY TANK TO GET TO 27% BEFORE THEY FILLED IT. At this point, I had a $600 credit on my account and it only costed $400 to fill my tank. I am on a budget plan. I pay you people an outrageous amount of money per month and you go 6 months without delivery and let my tank get to 27%!?!? Because of this, we started having issues with our furnace. Our tank never should've gotten that low especially on a budget plan. I filled out a survey they sent to my email. 2 days later, I recieved a phone call from a condescending man about my bad review on the survey. I was told that my furnace troubles had nothing to so with a low level of fuel oil and that it had nothing to do with their negligence to do their job. He tried telling me that I must be having problems because my tank must be really old. Nice try. I then asked why I hadn't gotten a delivery in 6 months and why they let my tank get so low when they previously filled it the year before every chance they got. He tried telling me that they dont want to deliver so much because they dont want to have to charge people the delivery fee. You had no problem charging me a delivery fee to come every other month last year to fill my tank at 80%. I have heard bad things even from people who worked for this company. STAY AWAY. I've heard good things about erhardt...I'll try them next year.
Update: Griffith let my tank drop to damn near empty. I had called for three weeks and received the same "the driver has your ticket. He will be there by the end of the week." Finally after the same run around on week three, I called and told them I needed someone to come fill my tank because it was nearly empty. The driver showed up later that day. I called the following day to pay off what I owed them and cancel my contract. The next day, the same driver shows up to my house. I met him outside and asked what he was doing. He had told me that he was only able to fill my tank 3/4 of the way when he had been here the previous day and he would top it off. I told him I canceled my services and declined the top off. Unreal. Glad I had caught him to tell him not to put anything else in my tank. If I hadn't, I guess I would've gotten a 1/4 tank for free because there's no way I'd pay you people an unauthorized delivery after I canceled my services with you. Being on a budget plan, you should be on top of tank levels. And if a customer calls you, you shouldn't give them the run around and tell them lies for three weeks. Horrible customer service. I use E and V Energy now and WOW!! What a change!!! Stay away from this company.
I'm auto-delivery, and just switched off fuel oil to propane for heat. I called 3 weeks ago and alerted them that my tank level was much lower than what their website reports and to request a delivery because of the new usage. Yesterday I called again and they said I was scheduled for a delivery in the morning. Morning came and went, so I called at 12pm and was assured that I was on the delivery route today. I called again at 3:30pm, as Customer Service shuts down at 4:00pm and I was assured I was going to get propane delivered today. It is now 6:12pm, and I have run out of propane, and I have been on hold with the EMERGENCY hotline for 12 minutes to request an off hours delivery that will cost me a $250 emergency charge. Note: it is 8F degrees and the coldest day we've had this winter. I will be looking for a different propane provider after this suite of experiences.
The front desk is always kind and friendly. They are more than willing to help me look up my consumption of propane and calculate when I will need it less. They will split the cost of payment across debit/credit cards without judgment or making you feel like it’s extra work for them. The drivers are friendly and courteous whether they’re in a hurry or not. My last driver offered to move his truck so I could get my daughter to school on time without acting like it was a hassle. So from first point of contact to the last you feel like this is great customer service. On top of that? The prices are better than everyone else providing the same product. This is the reason I’ve stayed with this company since 2007 when I bought my first house
