Waited in line outside the store for hours for the switch 2 preorders. Got mine preordered and all good to this point. I had to go out of town the week it was released. I called and asked Gabe the manager if it would be ok if I could pick it up the following week since I wouldn’t be there. First he said no because they have a 48 hour policy which I get that’s not his fault. Asked if he could maybe make an exception and he said he could hold it until Wednesday which was when I was supposed to be back. Got called the day after it released and spoke to a woman who was giving me the notice that I had until the end of day to pick it up. Told her that I spoke to Gabe and she confirmed I was ok to come pick it up Wednesday like we said. Had some family stuff to deal with which was the reason I had to leave, but I ended up coming back today (Sunday), which was three days before the agreed pickup date. I come in and got told it was sold already and that I was supposed to get a call to inform me that they couldn’t hold it because their DM got involved and didn’t let them hold it. Never got a call or anything. Someone dropped the ball there. But I also didn’t have my money in my account which is weird because if it was supposed to be canceled why wasn’t it processed? I know that maybe they couldn’t hold it and that’s not their fault, but if they would’ve called me back to let me know I would’ve done everything in my power to get someone to go pick it up for me or something, and if I couldn’t then it would’ve been my issue and this review wouldn’t have been posted. But it was negligence. It’s the fact that they royally dropped the ball and all I get for that is sorry. I get it I work retail too and these things happen, but I wasn’t offered any solution at first until I pressed for it besides a refund, no sort of workaround or compensation for my time wasted standing in line for literal hours for a preorder that I now have to wait and see when they hopefully get more stock in. So I wasted a lot of time for nothing and now I don’t have the console I preordered. I hate that I’m making this complaint against them because I’ve worked with them before and never had an issue. But like I said I literally just got back from out of town (12 hour drive) and the first place I went to was here even before getting home because I was aware about the timeframe and wanted to be proactive. The whole way GameStop and their systems work is stupid. I shouldn’t be punished for not being able to pick up my console that I already paid for in 48 hours. It’s not like I put $5 down, I paid the whole thing off and have the receipt for it and everything. On this day however, I was helped by a gentleman named Nate at the location on 29th and Rock. He was very helpful and helped me locate the charging cord and rechargable battery packs I was looking for that goes to a controller for my husband's Xbox one x. I am not a gamer of any sorts and do not know anything about any of this stuff and had been on a hunt for these battery packs for a few days and had tried online and Walmart already with no luck. I bought these and took them home and since they were after market my husband was trying to put them in and said they were the wrong ones and they wouldn't fit either. I took them back to Nate along with a spare controller and an old battery and he stopped what he was doing and took the time to show me how the battery packs go in the controller and that they do actually do fit but there is a slight trick to them. Brought up the deal about the nintendo switch going on, that was valid thru today. I cleared the dust off made it clean, still would only offer me 100 dollars less than what the deal says. Wanted to trade both those towards a switch and spend money for games and etc, but nope. Decided to keep my xbox one and going to sell it to someone else.
